The Liberation Project The Liberation project provides an opportunity for individuals to explore nudity without shame
(1)

During October 2013, I developed and led workshops, which I named ‘The Liberation Project’, and held them twice a week. The Oxford dictionary definition for liberation is ‘Freedom from limits on thought or behaviour’, and is the basis of what I hoped to achieve through the course of my workshops. This project provided an the opportunity for individuals to explore the less commonly known effects of

colour and utilise them as a means of liberation for that individual, such as breaking barriers of the social norms. I focused on nudity, where we liberated ourselves by shedding our outer layers, our clothing. At the point of taking off our clothing many voiced a psychological shift where they regressed back to their childhood nature of exploration through our senses. In this instance, further emotions are tapped into and discovered through colour and painting each others naked selves. Each workshop is slightly different, discovering new qualities colour can give, the connections that can be held between colour and emotions, and ‘wearing’ our emotions through colour. A therapeutic experience was sought, however through an artistic view of the valuable attributes colour can possess.
