Careful when you trim those trees! I was just getting ready to when I noticed some activity and spotted a tiny nest, about the size of a tennis ball, hiding beneath the limb I was ready to whack. The pictures shows how fast these birds have grown in just 5 days! I'm not sure what they are but studying the parents, I think they may be warblers.

More People Left California Than Any Other State in 2022 - Who Cares?

I just got back to Southern California before the "Bomb Cyclone" hit the Great Lakes with windchill minus 30-degrees. When I got off the plane at LAX, I shed my 2 down jackets and layers of longjohns.

Here at the beach it's sunny and 75 on Christmas Day. This is EXACTLY why I left the Midwest and moved to California on a similar Christmas years ago.

There's lots of things I don't like about California. Sure, I think about moving somewhere else. BUT, this beautiful weather is like the best Christmas gift ever! It's priceless.

On a clear winter day in Huntington Beach, you can take a picture of the Pacific Ocean and snow-capped mountains - all in one shot! Get your surfing done early in the A.M. and be on your way to some snowboarding & skiing at Big Bear Mountain Resort, about a 2 hour drive. Opening day for 2022 has not been announced, but there's a chill in the air and great anticipation. Photo: D.Stock

I was riding in my car in San Francisco when a cable car pulled up beside me at a traffic light. The streets are so narrow, you can reach out and shake hands with passengers. The San Francisco cable car system is the world's last permanently operational manually operated cable car system whose cars are pulled along by cables embedded in the street. Here's more about cable cars: http://www.seecalifornia.com/visit/san-francisco-cable-cars.html

If you see people holding hands and combing the ocean waters, you may have come upon a search/rescue of a missing person. In this case an 18-year-old from Los Angeles went too deep into the water and disappeared at Sunset Beach, Calif. His family cried, hugged each other and hoped for signs of life somewhere. His body washed ashore in Seal Beach several days later. The Junior Lifeguards put their summer training into action to assist with the search.

How to cool off on a hot, Southern California summer day? Maya bought ice cream at Bruster's next to Seal Beach Pier and found a place in the shade. While frozen desserts do the trick, she normally goes for hot & spicy when it comes to dining. Check out a few of her favorite restaurants... http://www.seecalifornia.com/information/maya-jannelle.html

California has plenty of free summer concerts in 2022 but not so many big name acts. For those who remember beach concerts in Santa Cruz or Pershing Square in Los Angeles, the well known bands and productions haven't come back as of yet. San Francisco's Stern Grove Concerts are returning, however, and featuring Tower of Power, Leann Rimes, Taj Mahal and The Big Picnic with Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead) and friends.

There are thousands of tribute band performances at concerts in the parks, with the music of The Eagles, Beatles, Beach Boys, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bruno Mars, Journey, Queen and the likes. Don't overlook free festivals and 4th of July events, as well. We've found over 100 cities and destinations bringing back the music for the public to enjoy. Check it out! http://www.seecalifornia.com/entertainment/concerts/california-summer-concerts.html
