One of the archaeological sites that has some of the most significance throughout Southeastern Asia is Angkor. It has remains from the 9th to the 15th centuries of the Khmer Empire. Khmer artistic influences helped to shape the distinct look of South-East Asian art. Khmer architecture also has a number of distinctions that can be seen which developed both independently and also as a result of other nearby cultures. Because of the art and architecture developed during this time in Angkor, oriental art and architecture were able to cross into a new horizon.
