Dear members,
Maritime Rideshare was launched in December 2011 to make moving around the Maritimes more affordable, accessible, and friendly for all. Four years later, Maritime Rideshare is a community of 8,000 change-makers.
While we have achieved many successes, the goal of making ridesharing in the Maritimes mainstream remains unmet. For the past couple years, our team - namely Aaron and Nathalie - had other commitments which prevented us from giving Maritime Rideshare the love and care it needed.
We knew that we wanted to pass on the reigns, but finding a suitable replacement has not been easy. The site requires a substantial amount of technical sophistication and a specific skill-set to grow the community. Finding a group that was purpose driven, shared our vision, and was capable of taking Maritime Rideshare to the next level was very important to us. It wasn’t an easy task, but we have found the match!!
- Meet HitchPlanet -
Recently, we came across Flo Devellennes and his team who run HitchPlanet - a rideshare community based in British Columbia. It was quickly apparent that Flo shared our vision. What’s most exciting is that he and his team have grown the ridesharing community in BC tenfold in under 2 years! They have a beautifully designed platform, mobile app, and social profiles so you can see and rate the people you ride with. We are sure you will be impressed with the ease of use and expanded features.
With great excitement we announce to our members that Maritime Rideshare is joining the HitchPlanet family.
On Wednesday April 20, 2016, the Maritime Rideshare community will become HitchPlanet. You do not need to do anything. Your account will be migrated for you. Flo will be in touch with another email on Wednesday with more info on this.
This realizes the HitchPlanet dream of creating a platform on which Canadians - coast to coast - can ‘share the ride’.

We are thrilled about this development! HitchPlanet has the platform, the proven track record and the passion to take ridesharing to the next level in the Maritimes. They are also a purpose driven enterprise which gives us confidence that our members will be well cared for. Through HitchPlanet, we look forward to seeing our dream of making moving around the Maritimes more affordable, accessible, and friendly for all a reality.

It’s your support that has enabled us to get this far and is enabling us to take this next step in creating a thriving ridesharing community for our region.
