This 5 days tour by overnight train allow you to explore the highlight of of South Isarn including Ubonratchathani, the border town and a gate way to Southern of Lao PDR. You will be fasinated by one of Unseen Thailand, the longest’s ancient painting on the cliff of Maekong River at Pha Taem and Sao Chaliang, see the amazing natural point of Two-Colours River at Khongjiam in Ubonratchathani. Plus enjoy the rich nature and quiet enviroment of the great waterfall of Khon Phaphen and Phasuam, Laotian lifestyle and amazed by the magnificent workmanship of the Khmer ruins temple complex before Angkor Wat period at Wat Phu in Pakse and Champasak, South Lao PDR where is not far from Thailand.

Day 1 : Bangkok – Ubonratchathani

Our tour guide pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok and transfer to Hualampong Train Station

Take an overnight trian (first class sleeper cabin), train number 67 to Ubonratchathani (takes around 11 hours)
Day 2 : Ubonratchathani ( B,L,D )

Arrive Ubonratchathani Train Station, take a private car drive to the city. Breakfast is served at restaurant

Proceed to visit Wat Tham Kuha Sawan , built in 1978 by Luangpu Khum Kaning, a highly respected monk, to be a place for meditation practice where he also resided. Today, Luangpu has passed away but his body, which is not rotten, is well kept in a glass coffin and considered a sacred itiem. The temple is located on a high cliff above the Maekong River offers nice scenery of the river and Lao PDR
Then
Transfer to Pha Taem National Park, visit to Pha Taem, well known as Thailand’s longest ancient painting on the cliff-faces together with stone columns. The towering cliffs house groups of pre-historical paintings which line 180 metres. There are over 300 paintings in five categories such as animals, geometrical motifs, etc. Not far from Pha Taem, you will see Sao Chaliang, the stone towers carved by wind and water for millions of years, the mushroom-like stone towers are scattered around the area containing shell fossils, sand and gravels in their texture. Their name "Sao Chaliang" derives from a dialect word "Saliang" which means "stone tower".

Transfer to Khongjiam district, to see Maenam Song Si or Two-colours River, the amazing point at the mouth of the Mun River runs into Maekong River, so you can see two rivers, in 2 different colours – "Song Si" means two loclours – blending together.

After breakfast, transfer to Chong Mek border check-point, after pass Thailand and Lao immigration process, transfer to Pakse (around 1 hour drive)

When arrive Pakse, continue trip to the UNESCO world heritage temples of Wat Phu, the ancient Khmer temple complex with area around 2km x 1.8km, marked by beautiful natural scenery and a quiet environment, located on the hillside of Mount Phu Kao and 47 km far from Pakse by passing the former capital of the Sothern Lao Kingdom, Campasak. Visitors who appreciate art and history will be amazed by the magnificent workmanship and carving deep into the stone wall and cut the stone in the form of temple pillars, barays, lintels, pediments, terrace, courtyard, walls, doorways, sanctuary, shrine, library and palaces. At the top of the temple is a freshwater spring that flows from the rock, one of the reasons the temple was built and stood strong from before the main Angkorian period of Khmer rule. If you visit Wat Phu on the full moon of the third lunar month (usually in February), you will come across the temple’s biggest annual festival with many impressive ceremonies and fun activities going on during the week-long period. These include monk-blessing ceremonies, elephant racing, buffalo and c**k fighting as well as a trade fair. The event is never short of entertainment such as live music and traditional Lao dancing.

Bring you to Tad Pha Suam Waterfall. This waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfall in Lao PDR. It is seperated into rooms, like its name "Suam" in Laotian means room or loft. Then you will have an opportunity to see some tribal villages populated by the original race of current Laotian people
