Why not come and join in the 2020 annual celebration and festival of Toques & Clochers which will take place in Limoux. The weekend of 4th and 5th of April.
Toques et Clochers is an annual two-day gastronomy festival in the Aude region. It is dedicated to the celebration of Chardonnay production in the Limoux wine area, sponsored by the Sieur d'Arques wine cooperative. It has taken place each year since 1991 during the weekend of Palm Sunday in the area of Limoux and Saint-Hilaire.
A group of local wine producers and a 3-star chef organize an auction of wine. Each year a different village in the appellation is chosen to host the festival and the money raised is used to restore the church in that village. The event's name refers to the tall hats worn by chefs (toques) and bell towers or steeples (clochers), since the money raised from the auctions is given to churches to restore their belltowers. On the first day of the festival, the host village holds a celebration for the public, including wine-tasting, art exhibition and music. Things are hotting up here in Limoux. Not only the weather but the roads are being smartened up with lovely new white markings and our main roundabout on the outskirts of town has its bicycles ready for the "Tour de France". The night market will soon be starting on Tuesday evenings in the town square. This lasts throughout July and August. Leather goods, home produce, candles, cheeses, all available and good old English "Fish 'n' Chips. Plus of course plenty of Blanquette. If you haven't planned your holiday yet, you might like to visit us. There's always plenty to do, from history, Cathar castle trails, wine tasting, walking, cycling, canoeing, and its only a hour's drive from the Mediterranean coast and its glorious sandy beaches.
Nearer to home is Carcassone Plage with its lake and water activites plus if you are feeling energetic, try out a "Go Ape" course.

The season is getting underway here in the Aude. Starting with Salsa in Limoux Square on Saturday night. The weather was lovely and everybody was having fun, trying out their Salsa steps - some better than others!

It's not long till the Tour de France comes to Limoux .
