Hello my faithful friends and beloved guests. It’s been a few months since I’ve posted. My sweet Papa has undergone many difficult health challenges, including brain bleeds and seizures that have only pushed him further down his dementia journey. Mom and I have stayed with Dad 24/7 for the past 3 months as he’s endured egregious treatment in one hospital, transferred to a rehab hospital, back to a different hospital, contracted Covid, and is now in memory care with hospice. During this time my brother passed away unexpectedly; none of knew he was exceedingly ill as he didn’t want us to know. It’s been exceedingly painful. Thank you for your grace in understanding that I will not be able to tour with you the rest of the year as Mom and I navigate unchartered waters. All upcoming tours have been refunded. I am not sure what the future holds; however, I am sure I am where I need to be. I love and appreciate each of you and thank you for your support, encouragement and faith in me with Feelin’ Groovy Tours. You are greatly appreciated. Please know my faith is deep and I trust God in His perfect plan, even though insurmountable at times. All will be well and I hope to see you next year if things fall into place. Stay well and keep loving on those around you ❤️

Congratulations to my new buddies for graduating high school! So proud of each of you! For students with developmental disabilities, reaching this milestone that many take for granted is a MAJOR accomplishment! Two of my graduating guests will be starting new jobs at D&B Supply! THE BIRTH OF A GROOVY DREAM...
What do you do with a love for people and adventure, the joy of discovery, a VW bus and 30 years of bottled up crazy? Create a highly unique, laid-back, groovy tour operation! What better way to share with guests The Most Beautiful Small Town in America than in a vintage VW bus!
After moving to North Idaho in 2011 with her family, Michelle traded her business suits for hiking boots and began a journey of discovering a whole new way of living. However, being faced with a tough job market, Michelle decided the timing was perfect to reinvent herself and pursue her childhood dream of becoming a Tour Director.
Michelle’s reinvention started in 2018 by earning two important tourism designations - Certified International Tour Manager through the International Guide Academy in Denver, Colorado, and Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association of Interpretation in Fort Collins, Colorado.
After lots of diligent research and numbers crunching with her husband and business partner, Tom, all systems were a big “GO!” and they were off on a new journey to find a late model 1970’s VW bus that seats 7 passengers, has sliding windows, a 2.0 liter, fuel injected engine; and a large touring sunroof.
A serendipitous crossing of paths with Chuck Luettgerodt of Inland Aviation Specialties and VW UNLTD outside a local coffee shop in Sandpoint last summer was seriously a gift from God. Michelle knew that having a local, air cooled VW specialist was the missing link to her business plan.
With Chuck’s guidance and 40 years of air cooled VW restoration experience, they were able to locate a beautiful, 1976 VW bus in San Diego, California. The bus was ready to go to auction, but Michelle nabbed the bus just in time, had her transported to Sandpoint last November, and the restoration project kicked off in December.
Michelle says the community support has been overwhelming, with a land based tour operation long overdue in our region. There’s an abundance of things to see and experience in this area that most travelers are unaware of and Michelle’s goal is to delight guests beyond their expectation and enlighten their journey every step of the way.
And as Sly & the Family Stone sang, “It’s a Family Affair...” it really is - Michelle’s husband, Tom, is a numbers crunching machine and their daughter, Claire, a student at Boise State studying journalism and mixed media, has commandeered Feelin Groovy Tours’ social media campaign, photography and videography. Michelle says Feelin’ Groovy Tours wouldn’t exist without the creativity and talents of the FGT team members, a supportive community and a highly talented group of local artists whose work is featured on their touring bus.
