Montenegro has become an insider tip on the travel market in recent years. Croatia's little sister is not only cheaper and less overrun, but also offers an undreamt-of variety of nature and cultural sights. However, as in Croatia, you should avoid visiting the island during the summer months due to the mass of tourists. —> Read the full article by about Montenegro at theworldinyourpocket.com/montenegro (link in bio)

The pearl of the Caribbean in northern Colombia has a beautiful old town which was built in the colonial style of the 16th century. Countless small alleys and restaurants invite you to explore, as well as a walk over the city wall, which is still untouched today. Beside the many beaches, a visit to the Marcado Bazurto, one of the biggest and most original markets of Colombia, is recommended above all. Solid shoes and no valuables are a must. —> Read the full article by about Colombia at theworldinyourpocket.com/colombia (link in bio)

A fascinating small group of islands in the northeast of Panama near the border to Coast Rica. With beautiful Caribbean beaches and many hidden quiet places to relax. The town of Bocas del Toro on the Isla Colon is the starting point for most visitors' day activities. The very touristic main street contains several hostels, restaurants, bars and travel agencies. Take a trip to the beaches of Playa Bluff and Starfish. Palm trees leaning over the turquoise ocean, beautiful white sandy beach surrounded by jungle. —> Read the full article by about Panama at theworldinyourpocket.com/panama (link in bio)

Heading south, I took a stop in Huế, on the middle-eastern coast of Vietnam. Many bike rentals offer you a rental motorbike combined with a luggage transfer to Hội An until 6pm on the same day. The motorbike trip from Huế to Hội An takes around 4 hours (130km) and leades you along the beautiful coastyard and its rough and authentic nature. Especially the Hai Van Pass. Rising from sea level to almost 500 metres, the 21-kilometre twisted ribbon of road clings to the mountainside overlooking the South China Sea. Since the Hai Van Tunnel was carved out beneath the mountain in 2005, the pass road is a wide open swath of empty tarmac, just perfect for motorbikes. This roadtrip was the highlight of my Vietnam trip and is a high recommendation. Hội An, the destination, is a dreamy, romantic village with a traditional old town and lampignons in beautiful colors hanging in the streets. —> Read the full article by about Vietnam at theworldinyourpocket.com/vietnam (link in bio)

The Yala National Park is the most popular destination for safaris in Sri Lanka. Famous for its particularly high density of leopards, which can be observed and photographed here, the Yala National Park also offers a particularly impressive landscape. Due to its unusual biodiversity it is probably the best wildlife observation park in Asia and therefore well visited (The Yala National Park is closed annually from about September 1st to October 15th due to the mating season). On the other hand - the Sinharaja Rainforest is the last primeval lowland rainforest in Sri Lanka. It is an important nature reserve and was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988. The Sinharaja rainforest offers an overwhelming biodiversity with many endemic plants and animals. The breathtaking views of colourful lizards, snakes, spiders and birds as well as the huge trees, colourful plants and idyllic streams make the hearts of nature lovers beat faster. —> Read the full article by about Sri Lanka at theworldinyourpocket.com/srilanka (link in bio)

This is how you imagine paradise: Clear water gently strikes the sandy white beach, mountains offer breathtaking views and magical hidden lagoons invite you to swim and dive. The area around Coron is a real dream for divers and snorkel friends. Many wrecks in 10-30m depth offer perfect conditions to explore the history. The Skeleton Wreck in the northwest of the island is still very well preserved and starts just below the surface. —> Read the full article by about the Philippines at theworldinyourpocket.com/philippines (link in bio)

The Levinsky Market is a gourmand’s paradise with its range of flavors, spices, nuts, dried fruits and fusion cuisines. For every scent and spice in the shuk there’s a story of roots, struggle and nationality that deepens its impact. What unifies all these variables is a love for food. From growing it to preparing it, and cooking it to savoring it, the Levinsky Market is filled with legends of migrating recipes and kitchens. —> Read the full article by about Tel Aviv at theworldinyourpocket/telaviv (link in bio)

In 1846 one of the largest factories in Lisbon moved to the site where the LX Factory is now located. At that time it was just outside the city. More than 23,000 m2 of industry could be found there during the golden age that Lisbon knew. The terrain was abandoned for a while, but since 2008 hard work has been done to make LX Factory what it is now. LX Factory is seen by the locals as a mini-city for the creative. There are many studios, traditional restaurants, designer shops and even a concert hall where the local bands perform. Since not many travel guides have recorded the area yet, there are few tourists. —> Read the full article by about Lisbon at theworldinyourpocket.com/lisbon (link in bio)

Sveta Nedjelja is a small fishing village on the island of Hvar in Croatia, which is very popular among sailors. The award-winning wine Zlatan Otok is cultivated here and in the restaurant of the winery at the harbour you can enjoy the tastiest fresh fish with your wine. Many small deserted bays along the beautiful coast invite you to swim on dreamy beaches. Rarely you meet other visitors on the way, also only few cars drive on the island. The Hotel Tamaris directly at the sea and with a view to the harbour is a cosy place to drop down and to have a good dinner in the restaurant of the house between olive trees and a fantastic view to the sea.

Granada - one of the oldest cities in Central America - is with its colonial architecture the most beautiful city in Nicaragua next to Léon. It is located only 50 km south of the capital Managua on the shore of Lake Nicaragua. The center is grouped around the Parque Central, which is framed by the cathedral from the 16th century and numerous restored colonial buildings. Here, at the main square, the colourful life of the Granadinos takes place under the protection of the shady trees. The tourists can be found everywhere in the city, but the one road to the lake with the many restaurants and bars attracts hundreds of people. —> Read the full article by about Nicaragua at theworldinyourpocket.com/nicaragua (link in bio)

Bangkok, the city of sin, where everything is possible. More than just a transit station, the metropolis offers many cultural sights, fantastic food and undreamt-of shopping opportunities. A Klong tour through the hidden canals will give you a little insight into local life and is an absolute highlight. Besides the famous floating market, it is worth visiting the Nonthaburi market, the most authentic and biggest market of the city, where you won't meet any tourists. To get there, you take a boat ticket for 13 Baht and drive 30 minutes along the Chao Praya including sightseeing. Afterwards you can have lunch with the best curry in town (Ban Chiang) or try Thai cuisine at Pier21 on Sukhumvit Road. —> Read the full article by about Thailand at theworldinyourpocket.com/thailand (link in bio)

The High Line Park, starting in Chelsea, is the former West Side Freight Line, a beautiful 2,3 KM long walking strip above the streets with a diversity of trees and rare plants. Many park benches and seating areas offer the opportunity to get peace and relaxation in the middle of the city, spend your lunch break or meet friends. We got a fruit ice cream at one of the many stands along the Highline and took a break from sightseeing with a view at 1st Avenue to the north. At the end of the route you have a fantastic view at the Hudson River and the docks along the coast. —> Read the full article by about New York City at theworldinyourpocket.com/nyc (link in bio)

The small fishing village Perast in Montenegro is one of the most beautiful places in the Boca Bay. Located just a few km from Kotor this tiny town boasts 16 churches and 17 formerly grand palazzos. The most famous and spectacular landmarks are actually the two picturesque islands with the famous church Gospa od Škrpelja on it.

Minca is a small town in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada, the highest coastal mountain range in the world, 17 km from Santa Marta. In the midst of wild nature, walks lead to solitary waterfalls, ecological coffee plantations and high mountain peaks. Pozo Azul is a spectacular swimming hole with two small waterfalls. You can jump from the top of the second waterfall into the refreshing water below. In the evening, the town's restaurants and bars are the entertainment for travellers. Since the tree world of Minca is home to many rare bird species, many birdwatchers also travel to this region.

Vietnam not only has a lot to offer in terms of landscape, but also in culinary sense. In Hanoi there is the biggest selection and the freshest food. Street stalls offer mostly fresh Pho at almost every corner, which I have never eaten so tastefully elsewhere before. Banh Mi are also a very popular snack for in between that are prepared there with fried egg, many fresh herbs and hot sauce. In the restaurants you can try all other Vietnamese delicacies like Summer Rolls (goi cuon), Hot Pot or the famous Bun Cha.

The first two things that come to mind in Panama are Janosh and the Great Canal. The second can be easily seen from the old castle wall of the old city in Panama City. Apart from the tourist stands you can watch the boat traffic around the Panama Canal at high tide. After our walk over the wall we sat down in a café and relaxed watching the hustle and bustle on the sea. At peaktime, countless huge container ships wait in front of the canal for the entrance, which is an impressive sight. Afterwards we strolled through the alleys of the old town and ended the evening in a cevicheria with mojitos and fresh fish.

El Nido and the many beautiful islands around northern Palawan are a paradise for lovers of postcard beaches, diving, snorkelling and island hopping. On our 5-day boat trip we had all that, including a cook on board who took care of us 3 times a day. Every night we slept on a different island in dreamy bamboo tents right on the beach.

Nuwara Eliya is located in the mountains and hence cold as well. We organized a Tuk Tuk for a whole day and visited a tea factory. It was really interesting to get an insight how tea is being produced. Afterwards we went hiking in the Horton Plains National Park, the obvious place to head for hiking. Pidurutalagala, the country's highest mountain can also be hiked up. While the peak is off limits, it is possible to reach points as high as 7,000 feet from the base. —> Read the full article by about Sri Lanka at theworldinyourpocket.com/srilanka (link in bio)

In complete contrast to Tel Avivs mostly rather shabby-chic looking buildings is Old Jaffa. Walk up the hill to Al-Bahr Mosque, enjoy the view over to Tel Aviv and the beaches – okay, honestly, the view to Old Jaffa is prettier than the other way round - and walk through the beautiful alleyways down to the oldest port in the world. Afterwards head to Jaffa´s fleamarket area, where you can easily spend a full day strolling through the tiny streets, buy local produce from jewelry to furniture and again, enjoy lovely Israeli food. —> Read the full article by about Tel Aviv at theworldinyourpocket.com/telaviv (link in bio)

The island Hvar at the Makarska Riviera in Croatia is actually one of the hotspots, because of the extraordinary nature and dreamy bays, and also the high life party scene with the famous Carpe Diem beach club or the Hula Hula sunset bar. We took the car ferry to Sućuraj. From there you drive about 1,5 hours by car on a small dreamy country road through the famous lavender fields and small villages with a view to the sea on both sides.

Koh Tao, the small brother of the famous Koh Pha Ngan is a hotspot for divers, but also one of the most beautiful islands in Thailand. White sand beaches with the typical round giant stones and palm trees everywhere you go. Beach bars and parties on the crowded beaches like Sairee, and romantic lonely beaches on the other side give you the choice depending on your actual mood. Especially the Sai Nuan Beach is a recommendation, when you´re looking for romance and privacy. —> Read the full article by about Thailand at www.theworldinyourpocket.com/thailand (link in bio)

The Basilica Catedral de la Asuncion in Léon is a beautiful, white shining huge cathedral, over whose square you walk in wonder and suddenly feel very small. It is characterized by its brightness and is praised as one of the cathedrals with the most beautiful natural interior lighting in Latin America. Inside there is, among other things, the tomb of the important Nicaraguan poet and writer Rubén Darío. The roof of the cathedral is accessible and offers an excellent view over León and its surroundings.

After a half-day walk through the streets of China Town, Chelsea, the Highline Park and the Upper West Side, we walked into Central Park with some snacks and found the sheep meadows. A huge, lush green meadow with breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, all kinds of people playing frisbee, talking, snacking, sleeping or reading. A perfect place to rest and relax in the middle of a wild city full of hustle and bustle.

When you drive into the bay of Kotor over the mountain pass, you will have a magnificent view over the whole basin, surrounded by the high mountains. We made a stop in the small fishing village of Dobrota, where we found our accommodation. In comparison to the more touristic castle town Kotor, we found a quiet dreamy place with nice little cafés and restaurants here. From the private jetty of our hotel we jumped into the turquoise sea and spent the day there until the sun set behind the mountains.

The Playa Maderas at the Atlantic coast of Colombia is the paradise to forget the everyday life completely. We lived in a hostel of three Frenchmen who welcomed us warmly. Straw huts on the beach and hammocks between palm trees, good drinks, a great cook and this perfect beach held us for five days and sweetened our Colombia holiday to the end.

Halong Bay, world heritage since 1994, is the perfect backdrop for a boat trip of one or more days. You drive past the stone islands that rise steeply out of the water, drive into lonely bays in whose trees monkey families live wildly. Kayak excursions through dark tunnels from which you get to beautiful lagoon beaches and the fishing villages that are built on floating islands following afterwards. In March there were also an incredible number of jellyfish in the water, but our captain said that we can go swimming, as they are completely non-toxic and harmless. The experience of jumping from a ship into the sea full of jellyfish and then swimming with them was also majestic.
