Taking the dang trip.

I recently got back from St. Lucia, and I couldn’t help but think of how much travel has changed me over the years.

So many new perspectives, ideas, and inspiration come to me every time I take myself out of the everyday chaos and take myself somewhere else.

I spent no less than an hour last night scouring my list of favorite hotels in Jamaica trying to find the perfect one for a client who’s taking a family vacation.

They wanted:

Gorgeous beach.
Excellent dining options.
Unlimited water sports for the teens.

We landed on the perfect property that checks all of these boxes.

All this is to say that if you don’t know where to look, the search for the perfect resort or hotel can take days or even weeks.

Forget the witches and ghouls; nothing gives me more chills than seeing couples take risks with their vacation time because of travel advice they find online that isn’t vetted.

Seriously, if you think a haunted house is scary, try booking a European without the right intel!

You never know if that blog post about the “best resort” is actually true or just a cleverly edited fairy tale.

And let’s not even get started on those photoshopped hotel pictures that make places look like five-star palaces when they’re really more “rustic charm” than luxury.

So, who can you trust in this spooky travel landscape?

You can trust me! I have spent YEARS curating relationships with trustworthy suppliers around he works. I’ve been to many of the destinations I recommend. I do the legwork with site visits and property vetting like a travel detective.

And here’s the thing: I can’t get to every hotel or resort. Sometimes, clients ask about properties I haven’t stayed at yet. That’s why I’m so grateful to have such a strong network of trusted colleagues and partners around the world that I can call to give me the scoop.

What’s really going on behind the scenes when you open up an online travel booking site and start searching for a hotel?

You’ll get a list of results, but here’s the thing, it may not actually be what’s best for you and your travel preferences.

So many booking sites PRIORITIZE PROFITS, pushing trip suggestions based on the inventory THEY want to fill and suppliers who PAY for premium placements in the searches.

It’s about what’s best for THEIR bottom line, not necessarily what’s best for you and your travel plans.

If you’re just looking to book a quick trip, they might do the trick. But if you’re like my clients and crave a travel experience tailored to your unique preferences, you deserve more than a 1-800 number and generic recommendations based on who’s paying for ads.

There’s something magical about this time of year!

If I could teleport myself anywhere to soak up those gorgeous leaves and cozy vibes, I’d pick Paris because, let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to sip coffee from a cute little cafe from the Seine surrounded by the gorgeous fallen leaves.

It’s on my bucket list to take myself on a self-guided pastry tour through the city.

What is the absolute best thing about Fall in your opinion? For me, it’s starting to plan winter and Spring break trips with clients.

Reminiscing about summer one last time, then it’s time to move on to all things Fall.

This summer was full of some great moments — beach days with my parents, early morning walks with our dog and lots of Facetimes with family.

I saw clients off to Italy, Alaska and all over the Caribbean, and even I took a trip to Cancun myself.

Now that we’re fully in the Fall spirit, I can’t wait to say bon voyage to clients headed to Walt Disney World and so many cruises.

Cancun is calling your name!

Okay, it’s actually calling MY name all thanks to an itinerary I just finished for clients.

I’m booking them for a trip to the Hotel Zone, and the itinerary includes a stay at Dreams Vista Cancun Golf Resort and Spa.

What I love about Dreams Vista Cancun is the SWEEPING views of the golf course AND the ocean. And I also love that really easy to get to from the airport.

Just imagine: 5 days, relaxing on a gorgeous beach, a massage for you while hubby golfs, and waking up to breathtaking phenomenal views of the ocean.

I can SO imagine it, do you think my clients would let me tag along? Ha!

Just kidding, I’ll just be over here living vicariously.

What do South Carolina and Italy have in common?

They both have major cities named Florence. And both of those cities have an airport.

Just one letter separates you from booking a flight to Florence, SC (FLO), and Florence, Italy (FLR).

Why am I highlighting this? Because you wouldn’t believe how many people make the mistake of booking flights to the wrong airport when they’re planning a getaway.

Dallas and Dulles are another one!

My advice? Double and triple-check your airport codes.

My clients never have to stress about this. I’m a trusted pair of eyes on all of their travel plans, making sure they not only enjoy their travels but actually arrive where and when they’re supposed to!

Isn’t it crazy that something as little as one letter can change how a trip turns out?

One of the things I love about river cruises is how relaxing it makes exploring multiple cities in Europe.

My first river cruise will be on the Rhine River and planning it really opened my eyes to how great they can be for multi-city adventures.

💼 You only have to unpack once.

✈️ There is no hassle with flights, train schedules, or driving.

🛳 You get to float into the port of each beautiful city, see the highlights, shop, eat, and explore, then head back to the ship for a relaxing evening.

It’s almost as if destinations come to you!

Fresh off my trip to St. Lucia and feeling SO inspired.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing my personal travel experiences and inspiration for different types of clients. Today is for the couples.

If you’re thinking of making St. Lucia the place for that tranquil getaway you’re desperately in need of, let me give you my two cents.

St. Lucia is PERFECT for a couples trip because it’s a great mix of romance, adventure and relaxation. So you really can have it all on your getaway.

While I was there, I stayed at Sandals Halcyon Beach and visited Sandals Grande St. Lucian Resort to familiarize myself with a few new resort options I’d like to recommend to clients in the future.

I have to say, all of they BOTH impressed me and are great options for honeymooners and romance travelers of all kinds.

Each property is, of course, unique, so depending on each client’s personal preferences, I’ll make recommendations accordingly.

What if you had a personal guide to visit the hotels and resorts you want to stay at before you roll the dice, book, and hope you made the right choice?

Doing re-con on properties is one of the things I do for my clients, and I love it!

Nothing beats an in-person look at rooms, hotel operations, and all of the amenities.

➡️ I get to see which rooms have the best views.

➡️ I get to experience the pool, the spa, and the restaurants

Clients off to Jamaica this week for a couples trip.

And I have to tell you about how we decided on their accommodations and activities.

This is my 4th time planning trips for this client and I knew we needed to get clear on their wishlist since this was their first time in Jamaica.

To understand my clients‘ goals and preferences for their trip, I always have a Complimentary Consultation call.

After our initial chat, my client had clarity that they wanted...something adventurous and out of the norm of their usual getaways.

As for activities, we booked a sunset catamaran one evening and a day of river kayaking so they could be outdoors.

They instantly fell in love with Six Senses Grenada!
