First Look Inside Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

The highly anticipated attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open on Dec. 5, 2019 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios® in Florida and Jan. 17, 2020 at Disneyland® Park in California.

When it opens, this harrowing adventure will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will join the Resistance and depart from Batuu in a transport ship to meet General Leia Organa at a secret rendezvous point. Along the way, however, they'll be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. The action then ramps up as Guests seek to escape the clutches of Kylo Ren and the First Order – with the help of some heroes of the Resistance. Today, we’re excited to share this first look inside the attraction!

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be one of the most ambitious, advanced and immersive experiences ever undertaken by Walt Disney Imagineering. The attraction is also one of the largest Disney has ever created. Its massive show building is a world unto itself, housing two full-size AT-AT walkers and a Star Destroyer hangar bay – complete with a TIE fighter and a garrison of Stormtroopers – plus more thrills and surprises.

New Mid-Day Magic Ticket Offer Launches at Walt Disney World Resort

Beginning today, Aug. 15, 2019, you can “fall into fun” like never before at Walt Disney World® Resort with a new ticket offer. With the “Mid-Day Magic Ticket,” Guests can enjoy admission after 12 p.m. to one theme park per day. 2-, 3- and 4-day Mid-Day Magic tickets are available for start dates on or before Dec. 15, 2019.

2-Day Mid-Day Magic Ticket: Valid for admission after 12 p.m. 2-day Mid-Day Magic Tickets are available from $88 per day plus tax (from $176 total plus tax) and expire four (4) days after the selected start date.
3-Day Mid-Day Magic Ticket: Valid for admission to after 12 p.m. 3-day Mid-Day Magic tickets are available from $84 per day plus tax (from $252 total plus tax) and expire five (5) days after the selected start date.

New Details Unveiled On Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Set to Open July 2019

Earlier this fall, Disney shared renderings of the exciting expansion that’s underway at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. In November, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled more about the reimagining, including the name of the new 15-story centerpiece of the resort, the Gran Destino Tower, and the opening month of July 2019.

Gran Destino Tower will serve as the new main entrance point for guests visiting the resort, and will add a total of 545 new guest rooms (including 50 suites) to the resort, as well as feature a gorgeous two-story lobby. A themed table-service restaurant is also planned for the top of Gran Destino Tower, which will serve up delicious food and incredible views of the Walt Disney World® Resort.

An oasis set on the shore of Lago Dorado, the reimagined Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort celebrates the daring spirit of the great Spanish explorers, artists, writers and architects. Throughout the resort, you will discover a blend of classic Spanish influences, imaginative Disney touches and modern comforts both inside and out. The resort’s more than 1,800 existing rooms have also been fully updated with new fixtures, furnishings and lighting. A second new restaurant is planned to open on an island in the middle of the resort’s 14-acre lake, Lago Dorado, with new walkways stretching across the water, making it convenient no matter where guests stay at the resort. And a fresh color palette will tie the entire resort experience together, blending the new and the newly reimagined.

Celebrate 90 Years of Mickey Mouse on Disney Cruise Line

The biggest birthday celebration on the high seas is coming to Disney Cruise Line next summer, as we celebrate Mickey’s 90th with Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Party at Sea!

In the summer of 2019, we will add yet another deck party to our entertainment lineup onboard Disney Cruise Line. You already know and love our Sail-away Celebration, where we jumpstart the vacation with an upbeat dance party, while our “Pirates in the Caribbean” show and dance party gives you the chance to party like a pirate, complete with an industry-first fireworks finale. And now, we are adding an afternoon deck party exclusively on the Disney Fantasy – and it’s all about celebrating the man of the hour himself, Mickey Mouse!

Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Party at Sea is a celebration that will take place one afternoon on the Disney Fantasy’s popular seven-night itineraries. You can join favorite Disney characters for some fun in the sun as you celebrate Mickey’s 90th in style, complete with special costumes and a song made just for the occasion – “It’s a Good Time.”

And of course, what birthday party would be complete without food! This celebration is all about Mickey, and the food is no exception – you will enjoy Mickey ice cream bars and Mickey pretzels, while a specialty drink in a cup shaped like (you guessed it!) Mickey will be offered.

A New Sneak Peek of Disney’s Riviera Resort at D23: Destination D!

At D23’s Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse, our Disney Parks, Experiences, and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek shared a sneak peek at what’s to come for Disney’s Riviera Resort.

This proposed 15th Disney Vacation Club property, projected to open Fall 2019, is inspired by the European grandeur Walt Disney experienced in his travels along Europe’s Mediterranean coastline. As you can see from this newly released rendering, Disney Vacation Club Members and other Guests will have a great view of fireworks spectaculars and easy access to the Disney Skyliner, which will have a station at the resort.

In 1935, not long after Mickey Mouse was born, Walt took a break from the production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Walt & Lillian and Roy & Edna Disney took an extended grand tour of Europe that would have an impact on Disney storytelling for decades to come. With its castles and colorful, fairy-tale villages, Walt fell in love with Europe – the art, the architecture, the food, and, of course, the stories.

First Look: Disney Skyliner Gondola at Walt Disney World Resor

Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled the gondola to Disney fans during D23’s Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse event. And as you can see, Disney Skyliner will be fun and offer a new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort with amazing views only available from the sky.

Once operating, the gondola system will connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and Epcot® to four resort hotels- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort as well as the proposed 15th Disney Vacation Club property, Disney’s Riviera Resort.

And select gondolas will have iconic Disney characters incorporated into their exterior design to give the appearance that a Disney pal is riding along with guests, such as characters from the ‘Fab Five,’ figures from Disney attractions, fan favorites from movies, and more.

The first-ever ride-through attraction themed to Mickey Mouse will feature a new original story and lovable theme song as it takes guests on a journey inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts.

Enjoy New Mickey Mouse Offerings at Disneyland® Park – The festivities will continue at the Disneyland Resort with Get Your Ears On: A Mickey and Minnie Celebration, which will feature new entertainment, food and merchandise. On Jan. 18, 2019, “Mickey’s Mix Magic” will light up the night at Disneyland Park with all-new music, projections and lasers that set the scene for an epic dance party that takes over almost the entire park. Minnie Van Service Now Open to all Visiting Walt Disney World Resort

The private vans are roomy, comfortable and usually only minutes away. Each driver is a friendly Disney Cast Member trained to take you where you need to be—safely and with a smile.

How does it work? You can download the Lyft app on tyour mobile device, open it from anywhere at Walt Disney World Resort and select the Minnie Van service option. Then, you can follow the steps below:

Confirm your current pickup location.

Enter your Walt Disney World Resort destination and tap “Request.”

The app will display a map tracking the vehicle en route and give you an identifying vehicle number to help you spot the car.

With Lyft, you can request your ride from your smartphone and pay right through the app. The new Minnie Van service is an easy and friendly way for you to whisk your family off to the magic!

The service is available between 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. (Hours subject to change.)
