When one travels, it's very easy to follow a guidebook and visit all the tourist spots; after all, one should visit and learn a lot from those sites. However, to get in-grain with the local culture and become an active participant, one should visit non-tourist areas.
Here are some ideas of what one can do after seeing all the sites.
🥦Go to the grocery store or a local food market. This is perfect if one loves to eat; visiting a grocery store or food market should be a place to visit. Food is a big part of one's culture, and it's an experience to see the big and little differences of how food is displayed, packaged and what the shopping centers look like.
🗻Go on a hike. When one travels to a different place, it is fascinating to get to know the local biodiversity. One gets emersed in the natural habitat of an area plus you might meet fellow hikers.
📚The local library. Although we have the technology, the library is a place of cultural importance. There, one could see cultural artifacts, see the library's unique outer/inner designs and, of course, see how the library serves its community.
👗Vintage Stores. A vintage store is an excellent way for one to recycle; plus you might get a unique souvenir.
