Our BnB description is pretty spot on:
In the forest on the edge of an 80-acre plot, this home is appropriate for folks who love nature & seclusion. We have deer, turkey, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, snakes, insects, lizards, skinks, raptors, songbirds, mushrooms, and many native flora & fauna species typical of an Ozark oak-hickory forest.
Wheelchair accessible 700 sq ft home with a queen-size bed, a twin pull-out couch, and a queen air mattress.
Decor: MO Nature with a touch of vintage charm and maximalism.
The space:
We've dubbed this place the Mushroom House because of the seasonal abundance the woods provide. This is a place for nature lovers to bask in the forest and all she has to offer. You can see all the stars! We're fairly close (about 20 minutes) to many swimming holes, floating outfitters, etc. There is a cafe about 5 minutes away. It's a tranquil, remote location.
This is a great place for hiking, foraging, plant/fungi/animal ID'ing, forest meditations, relaxing by a fire, working on art, or self-reflection.
We have taken over this property to preserve the forest and all the nature within it. We plan to continually improve the site with more wildflowers, food trees, shelter for wildlife, marked hiking trails, etc. The mushroom house and the 80 acres surrounding it are a work in progress.
Guest access:
The home and the property within our boundaries are accessible. The pole barn and RV are not accessible. Other people's properties are also absolutely off-limits. Trespassing is not permitted.
Other things to note:
We also have a rock and dirt driveway coming into the space. You will need some ground clearance to get in. No lowriders here. For instance, SUVs and trucks will have no problem. Most Toyotas, including Prius V's and Camry's, do have enough ground clearance. 6" should do ya. You can search for your car's clearance on the web.
We are in the forest; there are many species of insects some of which are considered pests by some. We do not treat the property with insecticides or pesticides. Please do take care when hiking to use tick repellent and/or perform tick checks after your hikes daily. Consider it bonding time with your partner. 😄
While we do invite you to forage safely we do hope that you will only take what you can and will actually cook and eat during your stay. Ourselves, nature, and our farm also rely on many of these species as well. Also no overharvesting, please. For example, if there's only 5 of something leave it be. If there's 10 maybe take 2 or 3. Thank you!! Only forage for food with 100% certainty as there are toxic flora & fauna.
Please keep an eye out for snakes. We do not kill them on this property and tend to shoo them back out into the wild. If you encounter one we would be happy to take care of it for you.
Keep in mind the likelihood of an insect or spider making its way through an open door or window during your stay is high. If you need assistance please let us know. Different species are in abundance depending on the season.
Our cancellation policy is listed. We cannot cancel a reservation for you after the allotted timeframe. If you need to cancel a reservation please contact Airbnb for assistance.
