HURRICANE PREPARATION:
Storm will be felt here on Wednesday with landfall near here as a Category I hurricane overnight Wednesday.
1. Awnings in
2. If it FLIES OR FLOATS, put it inside or tie it down. If wind cannot blow through it, it could collapse. Turn your patio tables upside down.
3. Gas up your vehicles today, get flashlights ready in case we lose power. If you wait, you will not find gas or batteries. Stock up on water & nonperishable food for a couple days.
4. Fill your water tanks to give you more weight.
5. If you choose to go to a hotel, make arrangements today or you will not find hotel rooms.
6. We will be patrolling to check sites.
7. Hurricane guides in the office
8. Nearest hurricane shelter is at a nearby school. Our bathhouses & other buildings are NOT hurricane safe. If you think you might go to the bathhouse for shelter, remember there are about 400 people in the park- everyone cannot do that 😊
9. Make sure you have a good local weather app on your phone. I use “Local 10 Max Tracker” for my information.
10. These storms spawn waterspouts that are tornados when on land, very narrow but move very fast.
