We had a Birthday Girl at the lodge this past week!!!
Her Dad Layne, being the awesome father he is, even waited for this special day to harvest an absolute GGANTIC Island Bear of a lifetime while she was at his side!!

After finishing up one of the busiest and definitely most successful conventions we have attended, and I figured we both needed a few days of rest to decompress…😀😀😀…so what better place to go then the Buffalo 4 Ranch in beautiful West Texas, owned by one of my best pals and with another great pal .
As you can see… we decompressed!!!!
Huge thanks to and for another amazing show and to my good pals and for the great hospitality as always.

As we close in on the end of our year, I wanted to thank this AMAZING TEAM , for their tireless efforts and continuing to make this all so much fun! Thank you for another absolute SEAON FOR THE BOOKS!!!
We wish to thank everyone that travelled up and spent time with us on Vancouver Island or Saskatchewan for their continued support and FRIENDSHIP!! We appreciate you so much.

I had the true pleasure of getting to spend some time with Mr.Doug Roberts of this past Fall
Any who have hunted with us in our Saskatchewan deer camp know, we live and breath Conquest Scents!!! We rely on them..and 100% trust them to cover up any human scent leaking out of our ground blinds during a day sit!!
As I am such a HUGE believer in scent control I was very much looking forward to getting a chance to pick Doug’s brain on this subject and whitetail in general. If you look up Ungulate scent in the dictionary, I am very sure Doug’s name will appear!
In our spare time…Doug was able to harvest an amazing buck with great character and even better yet, Cody Robbins was right along side him capturing the whole hunt for another amazing episode on the show!!

Jason has been a guest of ours up here in our Saskatchewan deer camp for many seasons and has always chosen AGE and CHARACTER over scores or measurements.
Although this old buck would have measured many more inches prior to the rut before he started fighting and getting all busted up, it’s exactly the busted up part that made him so attractive to Jason.
He’s an old warrior showing all his battles!!

Another look at this amazing buck along with Happy Hunter Chris!!
A large number of our big mature bucks harvested like this buck just show up and have never been seen on trail cam over the past years.
Our huge territory holds endless miles of untouched, unhunted pristine deer territory, which backs up against hundreds of square miles of preserve that can not be hunted or entered.
That’s the exciting thing while sitting on stand, you just never know what is going to walk out
You just have to believe and good things can happen!

A common conversation in our Saskatchewan deer camp is wind direction at our stands and what direction works best for each set up.
Most would say straight in your face, while some would guess from side to side and even fewer if any would say straight on your back.
My answer, (in my opinion) is none of the above, if I had my way it would go straight up, because in every one of our stand set ups, there are such large numbers of deer travelling in and out from absolutely every direction, like spiderwebs of trails all around us, it’s impossible to play the wind.
Have it in your face, the large numbers that are travelling from behind you , you will never see, straight at your back, worse.
I am a HUGE believer in scent control! We must do everything possible to mask our scent coming out of the groundblind widows.
Conquest “Evercalm” has always been a huge part of the success we have had in covering our scent, with many bucks we have harvested, walking from behind and past our blinds at 10 yards without even a glimpse of detection!!
So if your wondering what the white squares are around each Hawk Blind window, it’s about three years worth of buildup of Evercalm!

Another absolute slammer buck harvested by our new fiend Greg on the first day, first hour of his hunt with us!!
This bucks massive main beams looked like Jaws, with shark teeth running right up the main beams!
This buck is what Saskatchewan dreams are made of!!

CAPTAIN HOOK!!!!
Many hours were spent waiting for this buck to show himself in the daylight, Lee, an archery hunter guest had him on day 6, once at 40 yards at 10 am, but not a clear shot so he passed and again minutes before legal shooting light ended at 25 yards, but again, the angle and light just weren’t right so ethically he passed, ending his day. Thank you Lee.
Jump ahead a couple weeks, Captain Hook showed up again on our and this time daylight.
Chad from Pennsylvania was more than happy to sit and wait.
Again Dr Hook went missing, no night or day appearances, until day 3, 1130 am he ran in!
Congrats Chad! A old age buck with great mass and tremendous character

Our Saskatchewan Whitetail season is once again upon us and I find myself still catching up to our Vancouver Island bear pictures from this past Spring.
No trick photography here , this beast is as big as it looks, actually even bigger!!
15 year old Max and his family travelled up from Texas to get a chance at one of these old giants and enjoy the beauty of Vancouver Island together as a family!
Congrats Max!!
Side note… this bear will be full mounted and displayed at my booth at the Dallas Safari Club convention January 2024.

61 miles in 7 days of hunting through swamp, rivers and gravel roads and they still feel as comfortable as the day I slipped them on.
Absolutely the best neopreme / rubber boots I have ever owned.
No blisters or sore feet and not near as sweaty as others I’ve owned!! Usually my feet come out of my boots smelling like Cody Robbins truck cab.
The fit is like a hunting boot! I’m super impressed!
Message Jay with your foot measurements and they will take care of your feet for you!!
Definitely give them a try!

HERE I SIT BROKEN HEARTED…….. This is the week of our Vancouver Island Bear season my good buddy @live2hunt_with_cody_and_kelsy Cody Robbins travels over to enjoy some good buddy time and hunt these amazing creatures together on the Island each year. Well…. This year he stood me up… and here I sit all by myself… just a mere 80 yards from this absolute gigantic beast that Kelsy, Cody and I hunted so hard for last spring. I understand that Codys man feelings get crushed when I beat him at any physical competition he throws at me, but it’s part of aging Cody…..and some just lose their muscle and strength earlier than others and it’s no reason to shy away from our great times and adventures together.
