There's an iconic bar and restaurant that every local knows about .. but only true Aruba enthusiasts who don't live there frequent. Charlie's Bar is located in San Nicolas and opened in 1941 - during World War ll but Dutchman Charles Brouns, Jr. Since his passing in 2004, his son Charles (Charlie) now runs the place. A ginormous red anchor monument in his father's honor was placed near the restaurant just off the road to Baby Beach and Seroe Colorado. For me and my family and friends, it's a must stop every trip. Next time you're there, go to Charlie's Bar, cool off with a nice Heineken, order the shrimp and the honeymoon sauce and tell Charlie David Pearlman sent you.
