Booking flights is a chore. It's hard to know if you have a good deal and hard to find that cheaper flight you saw on an earlier search. We can help with that! My tips for our American guests are:
1.Visit www.momondo.com - this site compares lots of airlines but best of all, puts a handy bar chart at the top of the page so you can see which dates are cheaper. It even gives suggestions for how to get a better deal.
2. Delete your browsing history and open a new page each time you look for flights. The travel sites know you will search so they give you their best prices at the outset. If you go back to a site without refreshing your settings, they know you have your interest and push the prices up. Their 'thinking' is to give you a sense of urgency - book right now before prices go up again!
3. Avoid non-direct flights. The small financial gain is not worth dealing with multiple airports, changing terminals, checking and rechecking bags, time, rushing or waiting. Being on a transatlantic flight for 10 hours is much more comfortable than crossing the US on a commuter flight and then taking an 8 hour long haul. The seats are nicer, there's entertainment, better food (included), and less chance of losing your luggage.
4. We recommend you arrive in London a few days ahead of the main tour. You will probably get some jetlag (feeling very sleepy mid afternoon). We are offering a couple of days of guided walking tours that you can join so that you can get acclimated, explore, and rest. There is so much to see and do!
