Let's talk about Disney World resorts. You can find a million websites that tell you stay - or don't stay - at a certain resort. I'm not going to do that. I truly believe there is a Disney resort out there to fit everyone's budget - and preferences - and I can help guide you to that resort. But I'll never tell you that you MUST or NEVER should stay at a certain resort.
I personally have stayed at All-Star Movies and Pop Century in the value resort categories, Port Orleans French Quarter in the moderate category, Fort Wilderness Campground in our own camper, and Beach Club. In a few weeks, I'll be visiting the Wilderness Lodge. I'll share my real, first-hand opinions with you for every place I've stayed.
Today, I'm talking about All-Star Movies. Disney's trio of All-Star resorts (Movies, Music, and Sports) are the most affordable of the value resorts on property. What does value mean? It means there are fewer "fancy" amenities - no water slides or hot tubs at the pools, one food court dining option (no table service restaurants), no fitness center are the three biggest differences. That doesn't mean these aren't a great place to stay if the theme appeals and the price is right for your budget. These rooms still give you the great Disney resort perks of 30 minutes of early entry to any park and complimentary Disney transportation between your resort, the parks, and Disney Springs. The All-Star resorts are served by Disney buses, but you can certainly use the monorail, Skyliner, and various boats if those modes of transportation can take you between places you need to go.
The rooms are basic, but contain the main essentials for vacation - a place to sleep, a place to get ready, and - most importantly - an in-room coffee maker! There is a beverage cooler in the room - but note that it is technically NOT a refrigerator.
For a couple, these rooms give you an amazing amount of space due the Murphy bed, which doubles as a table when closed and a bed when open. For families or parties of four, the bed is easy to open up, super comfy, and can also be folded away during the day if you need the table or that extra room.
All-Star Movies has two swimming pools and five main themed room areas: Toy Story, Fantasia, Herbie the Love Bug, 101 Dalmatians, and the Mighty Ducks. Preferred rooms, which cost a little extra, are closer to amenities and the main building and are located in the Toy Story, Fantasia, and Dalmatians sections. Standard rooms are in the Mighty Ducks and Herbie sections. A fun bonus in the Mighty Ducks section is that you may even be closer to the main building of the neighboring All-Star Music resort to pop in for a quick breakfast or to catch the bus over there.

An ode to Disney Cruise Line towel animals! We’ve had some pretty great ones. The one with the chocolate coin eyes literally startled me the night I walked in and saw it. Let’s visit St. Thomas! This popular cruise port destination packs some serious views. The Skyride to Paradise Point takes you waaay up in a gondola for some breathtaking views of the port. There are plenty of viewing areas up top along with a bar and restaurant. Mountain Top is another spot with views that will take your breath away. You can see a number of other islands from this spot. It’s also home to a huge duty-free gift shop where you can spot Bumblebee and get a delicious banana daiquiri. Both spots are typically offered as an excursion. We booked the Skyride through our cruise line, but caught a cab on our own for the twisty drive up to Mountain Top.
