What's On for March. Still a bit complicated, but loads of events for you

Castle Tioram, Ardnamurchan

Here is a shot of Castle Tioram which I have not shown before - (prounounced CHEE-RUM), is a beautiful, romantic and evocative 12th century castle ruin sitting on a little island that becomes reachable easily by foot as the tide goes out in Ardnamurchan. Tioram is a galley-castle, in the sense that it controlled the seaways. The Lords of the Isles and Highland Cheiftans could completely dominate the area and sail to wherever they wanted from this place. Tioram has a rich history, it is even said that Scottish Patriot, Robert the Bruce even held out in here when he was on the run (he was on the run a few times in his life) with a romantic interest at one time! It is important to note here that behind pretty much every great Scottish Patriot was at least one great woman who without being there; these men would have never accomplished as much as they did or even lived to tell the tale.

The last trip I took to Ardnamurchan, I spent hours on that little beach you can see in this picture, with not a soul around. A stunning part of Scotland that is extremely quiet and untouched.

These men were the elite of the elite, individually chosen and being trained for special war missions.
It is said that many of those helped big time with turning the tide of the war in our favour.

⛽️⛽️26 April- Please note and share with arriving guests, day trippers, family and friends visiting the area.

‼️Mallaig petrol station will be closed for the sale of diesel and petrol for the foreseeable, due to major infrastructure repair works.‼️The shop will remain open selling gas,logs, coal, oil etc but can’t dispense fuel at this time.

Diesel is available at Morar Motors Mon-Fri 9am-5pm (subject to availability) but does not sell pertrol. Emergency breakdown recovery will apply 24/7.

Guests are advised to plan ahead and fill-up in Fort William/Skye before travelling to the Road to the Isles area.

*Updates will be provided when Mallaig petrol station has indicative dates for works.

Night falls on the 277th anniversary of the Battle of Culloden, the last pitched battle on British soil 📆⚔️

Eight months after 1,500 Jacobites gathered in hope at Glenfinnan to pledge their support for Bonnie Prince Charlie, around 1,500 Jacobites fell on the field at Culloden, ending the 1745-6 Rising but fuelling long-lasting changes across Scotland...

70 years later, their memory was set in stone at NTS Glenfinnan Monument to mark that "daring and romantic attempt" to recover the throne for the Stuarts.

In the words of those who built it, here we remember the "generous zeal, undaunted bravery and inviolable fidelity" of those who "fought and bled in that arduous and unfortunate enterprise" 📜

Join two of Lochaber’s most renowned musicians GARY INNES & EWEN HENDERSON for an excellent night of music and craic in Glenuig Hall on Thursday 6th April.
Most commonly found performing together with Mànran, the band they co-founded in 2010, Gary and Ewen will be joining us for a night of tunes, songs and stories inspired by their duo travels from Kazakhstan to Shanghai to the West Coast of the United States.
Their special guest will be 2021 BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year winner Michael Biggins on piano

Doors open 6:45pm, concert starts at 7:30pm. Tickets £16 (OAPs & under 18s £14, under 12s £5).

Its a busy week for Malin makes Music 🌈

Today they are at Under canvas Eden Court Theatre and Cinema.

This Friday 22nd July we are delighted to welcome them to Glenuig Hall.

On Saturday they head up to The Ceilidh Place, Ullapool...

Tickets will be available on the door at Glenuig Hall and we look forward to seeing you there for a night of Bagpipes, Smallpipes, Fiddle, Bazouki, great tunes, craic and maybe some dancing! Make a night of it and have a pre-concert meal at Glenuig Inn ♥️
