This weekend in Western Mongolia
1. Most members of the nomadic family I've been staying with will move to the mountains. No longer just on horses or feet, they will travel in a packed vehicle like this where they will find a spot for about 7 people.

2. Neighborhood cows quietly falling in line in front of me. Every elementary teacher's dream! ✨️

3. Baby goats playing in the street. 🥰

4. Feet up Friday. A successful first week at the Khasbegi English & Nomadic Culture Camp ends with a fun field trip to the valley and a relaxing weekend for the teachers and staff.

5. The kids had a great time playing volleyball 🏐(they are very good and VERY competitive!) and soaking each other with water from the river. We also played the local version of RedRover and taught them Over & Under.

Last year I decided that I would take a break from teaching to spend time on my other passions. While I didn't have a concrete plan I prepared a well as I could for whatever exciting opportunity I knew come by way.

While researching travel needs for a client, I stumbled on Marinel's (Brown Gal Trekker & Equity Global Treks) advocacy and community-led efforts within the travel industry. It was inspiring and I wanted to be a part of it. As I read more, I learned about the Khusvegi English & Nomadic Culture Camp in Western Mongolia where volunteers could teach English to nomad children and in exchange, learn about their culture and traditions.

Today, I find myself in Mongolia staying with my host family of 7-generation eagle hunters. Here are some photos of the beautiful people and landscape thus far.

Springtime in Venice 🚤🎭
The spring is a great time to visit Venice - less crowds, pleasant weather, and still a great time! Visits to the islands of Murano and Burano are well worth the trip. Torcello is another island that's often grouped in on the island tour, though I found the best part of it was the beer garden. 🤷🏻‍♀️🍻
