The semester is rapidly coming to an end and with that, we would like to announce our 5th general meeting on Monday, November 6th. This meeting is extra special, since we are having a returning speaker, Dr. Shirag Shemmassian, to help guide you through personal statements and interviews for ANY professional school that you plan to apply to. He delivers it the best--incorporating humor, enthusiasm, and engaging questions throughout the talk, making it all the more informative and interactive with the members. You wouldn't want to miss out on this experience!
We look forward to meeting Dr. Shirag and all of you! 😀

Hello PHHS Members!

We hope you enjoyed your long weekend! We would like to send out a friendly reminder that the next Pre Health Honors Society meeting will take place on Monday,October 23rd, in ROSA PARKS A-C. This one will be particularly special since we have a nurse practitioner student from UCSF coming in to share her personal story and would be a great individual to elaborate on the differences between being pre-med and pre-nursing, as she was the former before applying to the NP program at UCSF. Vanessa will break down the pros and cons of each and is here to help answer any of your questions!
This would be one opportunity to ask away, as well as to leave with resources you weren't aware of before and that can help guide you!

Hi PHHS Members!

We will be having our 3rd General Meeting this coming Monday, October 9th.
This will be an incredible experience, as our guest speaker, Dr. Dora Wang, a clinical psychiatrist at the University of New Mexico, and a graduate from Yale University and UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute, will be sharing with us her Pulitzer Prize nominated memoir, called, The Kitchen Shrink: A Psychiatrist's Reflections on Healing in a Changing World. As she best puts it, “It’s about the transformation of American medicine from my perspective as a physician working within it, and as a woman and mother. “ She is the leader for Doctors for America and has been a member since the very beginning, when it was Doctors for Obama. Most importantly, as stressed-out college students, she will be sharing her expertise with us, on maintaining wellness and the importance of preventing burnout, to stay passionate about the mission of medicine.

Pizza will be provided!! Please Join us, it will be a memorable experience for each of us!!

PHHS members,

We would like to inform you about the annual UC Davis Pre-Health Conference that is coming up next weekend. It is an event that occurs only once a year and we highly recommend that you take advantage of this opportunity. The conference consists of a wide range of workshops regarding shadowing medical professionals, the application process, the MCAT, personal statements, as well as other health professions such as PA and dentistry.
It is a huge event and you will be fortunate to have the unique opportunity to network with individuals who have traveled from different schools across the country and are at different stages towards their career. Some of the current officers have previously attended this conference and highly encourage young undergraduates to experience this it at least once. The 15th annual UC Davis Pre-Health Conference will take place on October 14th and will welcome 4,500 attendees.
