I have been getting many questions about the pros and cons of traveling the Canadian Rockies by train vs. by car. I will use these photos to outline the many “positives” of traveling with Rocky Mountaineer luxury rail service:

1) you can go places on the train tracks that cars can not go, and enjoy scenery that can not be viewed from any roads.
2) you get to ride on this beautiful train…it was a smooth ride most of the time.
3) any direction you look, you can see amazing views in this glass topped train car.
4) Snacks, Meals and Beverages (even the over 21 kind) are all included while on the train
5) The food was amazing!!!
And guest service was top tier.
6) Each train car filled with 60 friends you just haven’t met yet. If you are friendly, you will get to know some new friends while on the train.

Starting with the last day of our “Rocky Mountaineer” adventure 10/8 and working my way backwards with my posts. Though a bit nerve wracking for me to be so high up, traveling up Sulpher Mountain on a Gondola to overlook the amazing Rocky mountains in the Banff area was so worth it! Two hurricanes back to back, this is too much!
Please pray for all those evacuating their homes to move to higher ground to travel safely to a secure destination. Also, for all the first responders and utility workers who have already been helping with the previous storm, and now will be needed for this one. So many selfless people we see emerge in times like this! As far as cruise ships go, I am firm in my policy to not book anyone on a Caribbean cruise for Sept or October due to risky weather.

Wonderful day touring Vancouver. In the travel industry, this is the kind of thing we do for continuing ed to become a better resource for our clients. Highlight of the day so far was the Capliano Suspension Bridge park where we braved “in the treetops” and “Cliffwalk” and the world famous “suspension bridge”. I am quite proud of this 49 year old body of mine for being able to manage all the steps involved. I’ve come a long way these past few years since having several surgeries that slowed me down for a while. Moral of the story - just keep moving even if it hurts to move and it will get easier.

For those not quite sure if you ever want to take a cruise vacation…you can get a snapshot experience of what it’s like by going on a Washington State Ferry trip. Much shorter than the “boat” rides we are used to taking, but very fun and exciting still. Having new experiences together is key to finding joy in the empty nesting years! I love my travel eternal travel buddy. ♥️ Garrett Anderson

This week seven years ago:
We visited Alaska for the first time as we accompanied my parents on a cruise (which was also a first time experience for us). I loved it so much that I came home and began to create a new career path for myself as a travel advisor / cruise specialist - with the intent of finding a way to visit Alaska more often…and several other fun places.

It has brought me great joy to help dozens of other families experience Alaska for the first time as well. Last week, the amazing Bentley family returned from their long awaited 50th Anniversary trip for their parents. So cool to see 8 grown kids and their spouses all cruise together as they spent the week honoring their parents milestone anniversary!!! Several photos shared below with permission. Alaska is truly magical!!!
