Despite the bad weather, many families were OUT AND ABOUT today at Kewarra Beach, enjoying a swim with SURF, fishing, walking or scootering around.

If you have kids, then check out the brand new playground here too.

The tiny coastal town of Lucinda is a hidden gem. While many visit here for the excellent fishing, we thoroughly enjoyed spending a few hours here, wandering around.

Check out the brightly colored murals in the local park and sculptures on the foreshore. And ofcourse - there is no way you can miss the massive 6km long Lucinda Jetty. So long it actually follows the curvature of the earth!

Lucinda is located just north of Ingham. If travelling south the views between Cardwell and Lucinda are just stunning.

Chillagoe is an amazing place to visit. We went for the caves and were blown away with how beautiful and peaceful Chillagoe was.

As well as checking out the caves other highlights included The Balancing Rock, an incredible natural wonder, The Old Smelters and swimming in the Wier.

The BEST time to visit is between April and Sept. Approx. 3 hours west of Cairns, mostly on sealed roads, except the last part, around 3.5km, which is dirt / corrugated, but still suitable for smaller cars.

The Ella Bay Picnic area near Innisfail is a lovely spot for a beach walk and to just relax, only an hour away form Cairns.

To access it drive 5 mins north from Flying Fish Point. We also enjoyed a cuppa at the Flying Fish Point Cafe on the way back. They also have fish n chips and burgers.

Love this outback cafe in Dimbulah, real country character with history all around. Look out for all the quirky and funny signs. The food's pretty good too!

Well recommended if passing through Dimbulah on the way to Chillagoe, or even as part of a day trip to the Tablelands.

Located 1.50 hours away from Cairns, you will find Camp 64 Museum & Cafè on the main street of Dimbulah - the towns not that big, so you won't miss it 😀

The Babinda Boulders are a popular place to cool off during our hot and muggy wet season.

Only 45 mins south of Cairns. It can get very busy here.
