This week, we’re highlighting the person who started it all. Luke Rizzo, Founder and Owner of Austin Heli Tours. From a childhood dream to building two aviation businesses, Luke’s journey is at the heart of everything we do.
How’d you come to discover Austin Heli Tours?
Technically… he created it.
“I founded Austin Heli Tours in 2024 as a sister company to HeliConcepts, which I started in 2022 to support local Texas ranchers. But my aviation story started long before that. When I was 15, I booked a tour with Glen Crowley of ATX Heli Tours, just me and two friends. That single flight changed everything. I took my first lesson a month later. And now, we operate off the SAME HELIPAD I took my first flight from. Full circle doesn’t even begin to describe it.”
What’s your favorite part about working at Austin Heli Tours?
“My team! Without a doubt, I couldn’t ask for a more passionate, genuine, and committed group of people. Every one of them believes in our mission to introduce people to the magic of flight. I’m incredibly lucky to work alongside them.”
What’s your favorite helicopter tour?
“The Downtown and Lake Travis Tour, it’s actually the same route I flew on my very first helicopter flight. Every time I fly it, I try to see it through those same eyes. As pilots, we’re managing a lot—winds, terrain, passenger comfort—but it’s grounding to pause and just take in how incredible it really is from up there.”
