Somewhere Over England.....
Somewhere Over England, along with The Corgis, Naked Eyes and Tears For Fears emerged from the Bath local music scene of the 1980s - probably the greatest period for popular music in the city.
One of the most popular bands in Bath at the time, Somewhere Over England finally gained recognition and chart success in 1991 not in the UK but in Spain with their huge melodic summer epic ‘If I Ever Fail in Love ‘which was one of the longest charting hits in that country, finally reaching the No 1 slot in September of that year and remaining one of the most iconic tracks from that unique era.
Successive tours in Spain cemented the bands reputation as one of the great British live acts of the time.
Rarely playing live these days, they have concentrated on recording; their fresh narrative songs and rich harmonies have contributed to producing the reflective and personal set of songs which feature on their new album ‘Watching Spitfires. The darker, narratives and themes juxtapose with Beatle-esque harmonies and singalong melodies which are underpinned by a gentle folky sub text.

China Crisis llamó la atención del público en los pioneros días de la música pop electrónica de los ochenta. Las distintas y elegantes armonías basadas en pegadizas baladas de pop con sintetizador llevó a la banda a conseguir numerosos Hits con sus singles en toda Europa. Con cinco Álbumes y veinte Singles la Banda continúa como una de las mejores bandas en directo de los ochenta y sigue activa sacando nuevo material.
China Crisis tiene una sólida base de seguidores en España. Han tocado en directo en la televisión española numerosas veces y sus conciertos han sido históricamente éxitos de convocatoria y muy bien acogidos.

BIOGRAFÍA
China Crisis es una banda formada en 1979 en Liverpool que alcanzaron éxitos en las listas en los ochenta, consiguiendo dos álbumes Golden Disco de Oro en UK.
Después de firmar contrato con Virgin Records, China Crisis sacó su álbum de debut ¨Difficult Shapes and Passive Rythms, Some People Think It´s Fun to Entertain¨ in December 1982. El album rompió en las listas de albums inglesas hasta alcanzar el puesto 21 y fue luego Disco de Plata. Su carrera después de eso iría creciendo exponencialmente con sus esfuerzos al ańo siguiente con su ¨Working with Fire and Steel - Possible Pop Songs” llegando al numero veinte en las listas del Reino Unido siendo Disco de Oro. “Wishful Thinking” fué el tema mas popular del album llegando al numero 9 en el UK Chart.
Fué “Flaunt The Imperfection” editado en 1985 el que los catapultaría a unos nuevos niveles de éxito llegando al numero 9 de las listas. El álbum, con singles como ” Black Man Ray” que llegó al numero 14 y “ King in a Catholic Style” que llegó al numero 19 ( UK Charts ).
China Crisis consiguió los éxitos anteriores trabajando con productores como Clive Langer y Alan Winstanley, en su álbum “ What Price Paradise“ que fué editado en 1986. El álbum contenía la canción “ Arizona Sky “ que fué el primer single editado. La canción “ Best Kept Secret “ llegó al numero 36 en las listas de singles UK. El siguiente album” Diary of a Hollow Horse “ editado en 1989 fué el quinto álbum de estudio de la banda, desgraciadamente no consiguió el éxito de los anteriores pero aun así llegó al numero 58 en la lista de álbumes UK.
La Banda volvió a los escenarios en los 2000, haciendo varios giras por el Reino Unido Europa y los Estados Unidos incluyendo una en 2013
