Lived on this island so long and never heard of this hike. Super unique trek through a number of tunnels. Kinda terrible for a tall person (banged my head) but there are bypasses once you're sick of it.
Still waiting for someone to start a group on Saturdays. Might try again, but cant do every Saturday so I'm probably not the person. Looking forward to a lot more hiking in 2025 whatever that looks like.

Hike with Tribe Summer Solstice event. Posting just a little bit late. Thanks to .portal.tribe for bringing this together. Community + food + nature in a special place at a special time. Events like this are so necessary. Most of us are spending too much time online, too much time indoors. Let's put our phones down and go for a hike 🤙🏽

Pu'u Kea'au via Makaha... probably thr sketchiest hike I've ever dome because of the crumbly and loose rocks. No trail so you have to bushwhack, scramble, and climb the whole way. I would strongly not recommend this hike. But for me, can't have it intimidating me from my own back yard every day. If you want a confidence boost go start climbing the mountains in your own backyard. That's a metaphor. Maybe you drive by something you're afraid of every single day. Or walk by something. Conquer that. Don't worry about what's on the other side of the world. Focus on mastering your environment. Was a treacherous hike but I'll be enjoying looking at that mountain the rest of my time in Makaha knowing I made it to the top and back.

Paddleboarding to the Mokes off of Lanikai beach is something I've wanted to do for years but never got around to. It looks so close, it should be super easy right? Not if you go during stormy conditions. It was a lot more difficult than expected fighting strong winds and heavy currents while trying to avoid the "danger zone" of the reef. In the end we ended up taking a direct path back from Moku Nui to Lanikai Beach but it ended up fine. It was a challenging paddle and I was relieved to roll over into the water safely, where we got the news that the kayak tours weren't even sending people to the Mokes today because of the poor conditions. A little ocean danger is fun and I wouldn't have the memory any other way, but if I were to do it again I would try for placid ocean conditions and bring 2 paddles for 2 people instead of just 1. Sometimes you don't have time to wait and just gotta send it though. Didn't get much footage because I was too focused on surviving the journey, but it happened, and I would do it again.

There's something magical about the moment you climb to a high peak that puts all of life's struggles in perspective. Hiking is a transformative experience. The more difficult the process the greater the reward. Here Ill be sharing with you my experiences hiking the ridges, valleys, and mountains of Oahu from my own unique perspective. I believe life is meant to be an adventure. Take a little risk, do something hard, do something new, do it with good friends or new adventure companions. Make your life rich with memories. Get outside, sweat, bang your knee, stub your toe, complain about the bugs. Experience some discomfort. Have a sufferfest and laugh about it. In the end you'll be rich with memories.
