GOING HOME
I love venturing into a remote area closed off to most of the world where life has remained virtually the same since the beginning of time. This was my second visit to South Sudan, and I was reminded of how harsh and densely populated the patch of land was. Pristine stunning thatched huts stood in the starkness of the virgin landscape; the scene is rare today as more and more tarmac roads are being built and the modern world ascends into these remote corners of the earth.
As I was roaming around the village admiring the architect of the structures a Toposa woman wandered through the scene coming home from a distant village. The comfort of returning home is the same in all of us regardless of where home is.

What exciting adventure are taking in 2025?
I have longed to adventure through the mysterious Republic of Congo since I first stepped foot on the African continent 20 years ago.
A rich tapestry of unspoiled forests, savannahs, rivers, and bais characterizes the Republic of Congo (ROC), established in 1935. The ROC has only 75 kilometers of road across 1.4 million hectares, making it one of the last most pristine ecosystems in Africa and possibly the world.
Exploring remote, lesser-known corners of our world has always been in my blood and is what gets my heart racing. There are so few of these pristine places left in our ever-overpopulating world. It is when I am in these off-radar secret places I feel truly alive!
Every day, as I accumulate more days behind me than ahead, each passing moment gains greater significance. Every extraordinary opportunity becomes a beckoning call that I cannot resist.
A journey to the Congo isn't solely about capturing photographs; it's about immersing oneself in a profound experience to behold the untouched beauty and marvel at the vast expanses of pristine wilderness, reminiscent of Africa's untouched landscapes half a century ago. An epic adventure to walk in the footsteps of the great explorers through the pristine rainforest of the Congo Basin, one of the last remote and pristine ecosystems in Africa—the second-largest rainforest in the world and one of Africa’s oldest national parks.
You will experience thrilling days of discoveries of rare and endangered wildlife with over 450 bird species and 100 mammal species. The basin is home to the Western Lowland Gorilla, chimpanzee, Forest elephants, bongo, colobus monkeys, dwarf forest buffalo, red river hogs, and one of the greatest flocks of African Grey Parrots.

Experiencing a Suri cattle camp is a sensory immersion into the unreal. It exudes a moody atmosphere, imbued with a raw, earthy essence that captivates the senses. The camp is often shrouded in a misty haze, with the low hum of the cattle merging with the rhythmic drumming and chants of the Suri men. The air is thick with the smell of cattle and wood smoke, creating an almost primal ambiance. The men use fire ash to cover themselves and the cattle, protecting their skin from insects and other elements. This blend of natural elements and cultural traditions creates a hauntingly beautiful scene, evoking a deep connection to the land and a timeless way of life. It is something one must experience to understand fully.
