Thanks for this helpful piece of informationFort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site Have you met the three sisters Holly, Ivy and Daphne? They are plants we love at Christmas but hate in our ecosystems. Stealing large areas of habitat from native plant species, Holly isn’t so helpful. One way to eliminate these plants from your yard is to pull out the entire English Holly or English Ivy plant and use it in your Christmas wreath or swag!
Caution: Daphne Laurel pops up in floral arrangements, but should be avoided due to its toxicity.

For the first time, the iconic Hatley Castle is open during the winter for touring, holiday photos and family fun. Wear your matching PJs or your best sweater, have a warm drink and see the Castle dressed up in all the beauty of the season.

Warm up or snap a selfie by the roaring main fireplace, tour the museum, and check out the view from the top of the grand staircase, which isn't open during summer tours. Staff will also be on site to answer your questions.

It’s called “Cozy up at the Castle” and it’ll be held Sunday afternoons in December (Dec. 3, 10 and 17 only) at Hatley Castle.
Pre-purchased tickets are required and available on our site: Cozy up at Hatley Castle through Royal Roads University royalroads.ca/cozycastle

Tickets include visitation to the historic castle with staff on site to share castle details and history, opportunities for photos in front of our fireplace or decorated trees, and a warm drink.

Plan to make an afternoon of it and visit this historic place, located on the traditional Lands of the Lekwungen-speaking Peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.

Explore the manicured gardens and natural beauty of Hatley Park, a National Historic Site and home to Royal Roads University, just 25 minutes from downtown Victoria, BC.
