Our Euro Trip

Well today we set off from Diano Marina heading for the Cinque Terre, we were told we could not book on the Sosta we chose, just turn up. So we did after a long drive on the autostrada over many many bridges and twice as many tunnels only to find it was full. We searched, phoned and visited Sostas & sites but could not find any availability within reasonable distance from any of the Cinque Terre villages.
We ended up driving the costal road nearby them and settled for a long distance view. If you are thinking to visit them don't waste time looking local, head straight for La Spiaza and jump the train back up the coast. We are going to see if we have enough time to do that tomorrow as we are now only about an hour off our next stop, which is confirmed, for Pisa.
Some pictures of the road down here and the views. I must say this coastline from France down towards Pisa has been the worst part of our journey so far and if we were to come to Italy again we would avoid coming this route. Having said that 200km of toll road for 21 euros was pretty good.

So we have arrived in Italy staying at a site about an hour over the border with France. It was going to take nearly 3 times as long without tolls so about 75 euros later we arrived. Nice little site right on the waters edge. Moving to Cinque Terre tomorrow. The weather is great here and the views stunning, some of the bridges we cane over were amazing I will post some pics of them tomorrow when I get them off Tina's phone...

The journey so far but now after 10 days at " our little place in paradise " tomorrow we travel to Italy, staying 1 night near Genoa before moving to Cinque Terre. F***y all repacked apart from a couple of things to do in the morning before setting off early.

Coming to the end of our week in the South of Fance, forced to be 10 days by ferry cancellation.
We cycled to the local market today to get some veg etc to put us on till Sunday when we be getting an early start to drive into Italy. While in the village we just had to have our oysters and a glass of vino. We have enjoyed the relaxation, spending time with our friends down here and of course the site @ camping club farret with its fantastic facilities and beach.

Arrived at our "little place in paradice" After meeting friends for a few drinks, we had a good night's sleep and this morning set about sorting the mess of, not only the ferry cancellation but also we have learnt that the Stelvio Pass , another one on our to do list, is closed due to the risk of avalanches. So after a morning on the Laptop and the phone to Italy we have decided to stay here on this site in France for an extra 3 nights then continue as per our original plan but just a week late, catching the ferry to Dubrovnik on the 4th June. It means we've used up all our "slack" days but hopefully we can enjoy the route & sites / aires / sostas & stellplats on our way back up to the channel tunnel. The photo is our setup, next to the beach... loving it..... more soon.

So Tonight we are in Millau, we have been over the viaduct many times but Tina has not been into Millau itself till now. Enjoyed a walk round the streets and bars but now back at camper for evening meal Tuna Pasta .... yum
Some bad news though. Last night we got an email from the ferry company saying the ferry to Dubrovnik on the 28th has been cancelled and the earliest we can get the next ferry is 4th June but that throws all our plans out of the window. So now we have to decide what to do, Dubrovnik was a big "to do" on our list.
We arrive in " Our little place in paradise " tomorrow, so we will set up camp and talk about what we should do, watch this space.

Today (Tuesday) we are staying at a place called Cahors. Spent the afternoon walking round the city. We thought it would have been better than it was but we at least got our steps in. Tomorrow back on familiar ground at Millau.

Our drive South of la Rochelle took us down some interesting roads and over some very elegant bridges. We pulled on to a camping car aire at Meschers, down near the Marina. Great site with water, waste disposal , bins, & even washing machines and driers. Unfortunately the bridge over to the restaurants was shut for repairs so we decided to eat a lovely meal of seafood paella back at F***y washed down with a couple of glasses of wine Thanks Tina. The pitch on the aire cost us 11.50 euro for 24hr and included electric hook up..... We are loving this way of life / travelling and so looking forward to coming weeks / countries and experiences.

Photos from La Rochelle, parked on a free car park, 15 mins walk into city along a canal path. Had a great afternoon seeing the city but now time to move on to our stop over aire an hour and a half south. Weather could have been a little better but dry and warm at least.

A bit late posting this but we arrived at our site near Tours yesterday afternoon, After a bike ride to the local supermarket we had a couple of drinks outside at the bar listening to the band warming up Then back to "F***y" for a lovely evening meal sat in the sun. It was 26 deg at 7:30 pm.

First night in France is an Aire at Dieppe Harbour nice blue sky's and a cold beer after sightseeing in Dieppe Town/ City. 18 euro / night waste, water & electric all available ..... sorted

At last.. 99.9% done but we set off today on our Euro trip Day 1 drive to ferry terminal.

Well Three weeks to go. Making some progress now with change around. A few bits of trim needed but the major work done.
Moving on to Electrics and plumbing next, everything in just needs re positioning and connecting.
It's a lot harder to modify a layout than it is to build from scratch..... Beer O'clock I think.
