We embarked on our first Margaritaville at Sea Paradise cruise last weekend out of West Palm Beach. Since we're teachers, we took advantage of their "Free" Heroes Cruise that they offer. We've heard some very mixed reviews but managed our expectations based on what we heard and read.
Here are some thoughts:
- Package: We opted to get the Licence to Chill Package and we thought it was well worth it for the money! It included really early boarding, an onboard gift which was a lanyard for our stateroom key, WiFi, bottomless sparkling wine brunch, $150 credit for the spa, 10 drinks per couple, and the specialty dining in their steakhouse.
- Embarkation: The employees in the terminal could have been a little nicer but it was honestly the quickest arrival to the port and on to the ship I've ever experienced. We got to the port just before 11 AM and were on board within 45 minutes.
- Ship: It was by far the smallest ship I've ever been on but since it was just us and another couple, we didn't mind that part of it so much. Yes, it's an old ship and there things that could be worked on. Certainly not the most elegant and some updates/upgrades could do it some good.
- Dining Room: We of course never had any issues with bar service. They were quick to get your order and get you your drinks! I wish we could say the same for the dining room. It seemed to be really hit or miss but for our little group, it was either waaaaay slow or we were rushed at our 2 main dining dinners and at the brunch. The speciality dining of the steakhouse was mostly on point though.
- Buffet: We only ate here twice. Once for lunch on the sea day and the food was pretty good! The second time was for breakfast for the day we docked and it felt like EVERYONE on board was there. It was so busy and staff did have a hard time refilling things.
- Food: Surprisingly we really liked a lot of the food and desserts! Almost everything we ate had good flavor and was well seasoned.
- Drink Package: T
I was NOT ready to return from the family cruise we took over Thanksgiving break! It was the best trip for our multi-generational family. My siblings, kiddos, parents, and I all had something to enjoy—without anyone lifting a finger to plan meals, activities, or logistics.
Cruising is definitely ONE of my favorite ways to travel!
✅ No planning stress. Imagine unpacking once and having everything you need—activities, entertainment, food, and relaxation—all within arm’s reach.
✅ Time for everyone. While the kids explored kids’ clubs, we had adult time to reconnect over drinks with ocean views.
✅ Memories for all generations. My parents got to spend time with their grandkids, the kids got to enjoy kids club, my husband got to spend quality time with my dad in the casino and watching football games while relaxing on the deck, and we all gathered for family dinners with no dishes to clean up.
✅ Exploration and seeing different countries without having to worry about transportation! We got to visit Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel all within a week. We got to decide which places we wanted to do excursions in and when we wanted to get off the ship.
This wasn’t just a trip—it was a chance to truly relax and connect. If the thought of planning your next family getaway feels overwhelming, let me help!
