Let Me Show You The Magic of Cuba

Many of you know me from my 22-year career as a food, travel, and feature writer for D Magazine. Three years ago, I spent two weeks traveling across Cuba. I fell in love with the people and the rich heritage of history, politics, art, music, farming, and, of course, food. Now I devote my time to arranging trips to Cuba and South Africa. The itineraries I produce are based on the culinary and farming aspects of the country. I have created relationships with many of the local chefs, bartenders, and farmers who go out of their way to produce special events for my guests. It is a wonderful way to meet the locals and share cultural and educational ideas.

I have never been a fan of group travel, so you can count on me to do everything possible to make the small-group experience seamless and invigorating without the ambiance of a cattle call.

Recent changes in travel restrictions make traveling outside a group more difficult. However, if this is the way you want to travel, I can help you handle arrangements. If you have a group with a focus and would to see Cuba, I’m your one-stop source.

One of the most compelling stories I’ve witnessed in Cuba is Finca Marta. The picture above is me with agronomist Fernando Funes Monzote and his wife, Claudia. They are pioneers in the Cuban new-world of farming fresh produce for Cuba. Their 60-acre farm represents their commitment to transforming the Cuban countryside into an ecological, socially equitable, and healthy food system. All of my groups visit Finca Marta and enjoy long leisurely afternoon eating food from the farm and listening to their magnificent, magical tale.
