What a beautiful sunset above in Kilshanny, Mitchelstown 🙌 Their caption reminded us of the importance of good neighbours and supporting local! Give it a read ❤️

“There’s nothing better than a good neighbour and luckily is surrounded by lots of great ones in Kilshanny, Mitchelstown.

Taking on l was conscious of the responsibility: I was the first person after many generations of O’Keeffes to own this house. When I met all the neighbours they spoke so fondly of Chrissy and Paddy, it’s most recent owners.

A few weeks ago we got all the neighbours back in to take a look and give their verdict. I think it was a thumbs-up, especially with a delicious supper from

It’s important to me that is not only a lovely place to stay but that it’s a positive addition to the area: benefitting the local community, supporting local guides + makers and promoting the benefits of being outdoors.

This beautiful sunset view of Barnahown is courtesy of one of those lovely neighbours 💚 📸 Mary Carolan

📅 Barnahown is now open for booking of both individual B&B rooms and whole-house hire”

If you’re not following , what are you waiting for? Liana has traveled all over and has discovered some of the most beautiful spots in the whole region! 🙌 Like this one... “have you heard about this small hill with an amazing 360-degree view and a very historical site?

Corrin Wood, near Fermoy in County Cork, is only 222 metres high but it is a true beauty to walk. The hill is a very historical site, and the mound at the top forms a “Carn Thiernagh”, dating back over 3000 years to the Bronze Age, with the remains of a ring fort encircling the fort that dates to the early Iron Age. It is said to be the burial ground of the Druid Mogh Ruith.

The walk to the summit from the car park takes only about 15 minutes (depending on your pace). But if you are looking to extend the walk, you can do the full 4.5-kilometre loop, which takes about 1.5 hours to complete.

Corrin Hill is a spectacular place to come for a sunset or sunrise. Bring a cup of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate, sit down, and enjoy the show. 😍🙌”

This famous location is surely beautiful, but have you ever heard of the ghost of Petticoat Loose? 🫢 You have to beware on your travels through the Knockmealdowns ⛰😉 Folklore tells of the Witch of Bay Lough whose spirit returned to haunt her village of Clogheen before being banished to Bay Lough in the Vee.

Whether you believe in the tales of the vales or not, the Vee is still a breathtaking trail that meanders through the mountain range and showcases the rustic beauty of these historic lands. A popular scenic drive and cycle for locals and visitors alike!

Tucked away in the north of county Cork lie the Nagle Mountains ⛰ From wonderful woodland walks to picturesque views, here are some of our favourite scenic walks in the area!

1️⃣ Moanbaun Woods: The Moanbaun Woods sit on a high exposed plateau with views of the Nagles, Galtees and Ballyhouras seen in the far distance. This woodland area is minutes away from the charming town of Fermoy, an ideal spot to grab a bite to eat and unwind.

The Nature Trail in the Moanbaun Woods is a regular route for joggers and walkers alike. The trail continues for 3.5km and typically takes just over an hour to complete.

2️⃣ Kilbarry:
Cork’s very own wonderland Kilbarry Wood is an especially delightful area throughout spring and summer when its beautiful bluebells and foxgloves are in full bloom. Wander through this magical 30-hectare woodland, which is located 7km east of Fermoy.

There are two great looped walk options in Kilbarry. For an enjoyable 30-minute walk, take the Blue Route. The shorter of the two trails, it circles the woods for 1.5km. Whereas the Red Route is 2.5km trek around Kilbarry and will take 40 minutes in total.

3️⃣ Castleblagh:
The Woodland Trail in Castleblagh is an enjoyable 2.5km walk sheltered by the surrounding trees. Walkers and talkers take just under an hour to complete the trek. While in the area make a pitstop in Ballyhooly, a 5-minute drive away from Castleblagh. This village is rich in heritage and is home to such warm, welcoming people. See the beautiful Ballyhooly Castle which was built in the 14th century on the northside of the River Blackwater.
