This reminds me of my days in Catholic school Ntenefor. Head master will collect money and we will go and carry blocks hahahaha 😆 😂. We even went to Nkwen market to sell handwork ( brooms and bambo chairs etc ) during school hours .chaiii. Don't bring your handwork, na beating be this. They even give marks for handwork towards exam like a subject. We went and fetched firewood in the forest and went to Nkwen and Abakwa market to sell and come give the money to the teachers. And your parents will be home thinking you are in School.

The Only African American Ship Captain on the West Coast of the United States in the Late-1880s and 1890s

William T. Shorey (July 13, 1859 – April 15, 1919) was a late 19th-century American whaling ship captain known to his crew as the Black Ahab.

Shorney was born in Barbados and spent his life at sea. After only ten years at sea, he became the only African American ship captain on the west coast of the United States in the late-1880s and 1890s. He obtained his certification in 1885. His whaling voyages were based out of San Francisco on the whaling bark John and Winthrop. The John and Winthrop was the only whaling ship in the world to be manned entirely by an African-American crew.
Shorey retired from whaling in 1908.

Onshore he lived in Oakland and worked on the docks as a special policeman for Pacific Coast Steamship Company from 1912 to 1919.

In 1919 he died from the Spanish flu pandemic. He is buried at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California.

REPARATIONS AND REPATRIATIONS NOW...

Reparations are owed to all of Africa and it’s Diaspora. It took tremendous violence to capture 150M people over 350 years of human trafficking and enslavement. The so-called Slave Trade was the most massive War Crime in the history of mankind.

Territory had to be taken by Military force in Africa to provide a buffer zone to build dozens of forts ringing the continent. Millions of Africans were forced to build these forts as White Christian, Arab Muslim and Jewish slave traders developed an intricate system of settlements and shipping operations.

Millions of Africans were enslaved ON the continent, just as millions were hauled away to work the lands of the Americas. The forced labor to plunder the Continent’s interior was even more massive and brutal than the trafficking to the Americas. Reparations, justice and a complete withdrawal of all institutions of occupation from every inch of African soil is mandatory for the complete recovery of Africa and her enslaved descendants. African lands must be returned and the process of de-colonization completed as part of the repatriation process. The restoration of African People is a total process and can not be accomplished piece meal. The priceless treasure and lives stolen from our people can’t be quantified. Any amount dispersed would be an insult to the memory of the people lost in the greatest holocaust ever committed against humanity.

Here is a little history for individuals that are fans of the movies Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick. The first Top Gun competition was held in 1949. The white pilots competed with the latest state of art aircraft while the African-American pilots were forced to compete with older obsolete planes. After 3 days of competition, The Tuskegee Airmen team of : Captain Alva Temple, 1st Lieutenant Harry Stewart, 1st Lieutenant James Harvey, and 1st Lieutenant Halbert Alexander (alternate) were announced the winners. There was dead silence in the room. Not one of their colleagues applauded this accomplishment. The victory was swept under the rug and the trophy was not seen by the public for 55 years.
