ZEUGMA ANCIENT CITY
In the ancient city of Zeugma, near Turkey’s border with Syria, a team of archaeologists led by Professor Kutalmış Görkay from Ankara University has uncovered three ancient Greek mosaics dating back to the 2nd century BCE. Once a significant trading hub of the Eastern Roman Empire, Zeugma continues to astonish with its artistic treasures. The vibrant mosaics depict mythological figures and scenes from daily life, reflecting the city’s cultural richness and the craftsmanship of its artisans. These findings highlight Zeugma’s importance in the ancient world and the enduring beauty of its artistry.

📍Taşyaran Valley…

Located approximately 45 km from the city center, Taşyaran Valley was formed by water, wind, and tectonic movements. The rocks covering the valley, starting from the ground and changing colors, resemble a painter’s palette. The unique vegetation and geological formations of Taşyaran Valley attract the attention of both local and international tourists from all over the world. The Gediz River, nourished by the mountains in the inner parts of Western Anatolia, has created fascinating formations in this part of the Gediz Basin, which includes Taşyaran Valley.

In winter, the valley does not receive sunlight, causing the streams to freeze. It is almost impossible to see a river frozen in the Aegean region, but you can enjoy this experience in Taşyaran. Taşyaran Valley Nature Park offers picnic areas, viewing terraces, an observation tower, restrooms, pavilions, and places where you can enjoy tea and coffee. The valley has a 2,500-meter-long walking route.
