National Treasure Series Part 14: A Painting on a Hanging Scroll of Zhou Maoshu Appreciating Lotuses
This painting, kept by the Kyushu National Museum, is the only national treasure by Kano Masanobu (1434 – 1530). Masanobu was a painter who established the foundation of the Kano school, which, as a mainstream school, led Japanese art circles until the late Edo period. He served Ashikaga Yoshimasa (1436 – 1490), the eighth Sh**un of the Muromachi Sh**unate who built Ginkakuji Temple (the Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto, as his official painter.

Bonsai series part 5, Yezo Pine "Todoroki" (The Roar of Thunder)
Below is a description from the Omiya Bonsai Art Museum:
“On the trunk of this tree we see that the centre has died and withered away to reveal a hollow space. Together with an austere expression only a Yezo pine can offer and the bright whiteness of the shari (dead white wood) this bonsai is well suited to its name, Todoroki, which means the roar of thunder.”
