Welcome to Pendennis Community Centre 😊

Our centre is open! 🥳

We are welcoming everyone to fitness classes and a café, with two big studios that can be rented for any use. Our café is dog-friendly and we offer delicious locally-made cakes! ☕️🍰

The café is open 0900-1300 Monday to Saturday. The car park is open 0900-1900.

Fitness classes can be booked online- or just turn up on the day.

Community first 👭🧍🏼

We are run by volunteers – by the community, for the community.

This centre is on the site of the swimming pool that was closed by Cornwall Council because it didn’t make enough money.

We need a pool 🏊🏻🏊‍♀️

We believe Falmouth needs a public swimming pool and we were worried developers would turn it into luxury flats, so we asked to take over the site.

Our ambition is to redevelop the site into a low-energy functioning leisure centre with a 25 metre pool within three years. We can’t open the current swimming pool as is- it’s too expensive to run.

We need you 🙌

This is brilliant news and so well deserved. Well Done Fred. 🎉

I am overwhelmed to announce that today I was awarded with the ITV West Country Regional Pride of Britain Fundraiser of the Year 2023 award.

I feel humbled to have received such an accolade and want to thank all of my followers for their well wishes and support this week and over the last 14 years.

I have raised over £400,000 for charities close to my heart and am honoured to be able to represent the West Country at the finals in October.

The Falmouth & District Hotels Association have been pleased to be involved with the great work achieved by the Boscawen Fields Action Group
particularly the much improved footpath from Gylly beach to Swanpool. Well worth a look if you have yet to do so. Well done team BFG.

The footpath from Gylly to Swanpool is one of only two areas of Britain's coastal footpath to become compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act.

Sadly storm Betty has pulled rank and there will be no Parade of Sail today. We thank all the crews and teams involved that worked so hard to put together this event and we wish all the crew of the ships taking part in the Magellan-Elcano race a safe voyage.

A statement from Richard Gates, on behalf of Falmouth Tall Ships organising group and Paul Bishop, MBE, Race Director of The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano:

It is with great regret that, due to the adverse and continually deteriorating weather conditions, all of the organisations and partners involved in The Tall Ships Races Magellan-Elcano have made the difficult decision to cancel all Parade of Sail arrangements on Friday 18 August.

In addition, The Magellan-Elcano Race Start, will now be a virtual Race Start at sea on Saturday 19 August.

Arranging and delivering a public event of this size and spectacle, both on land and at sea, requires contributions from multiple organisations, including the emergency services, to ensure the safety of all involved. After evaluating all possible alternatives, it is the safety requirement and the welfare of the vessel crews that have been the foremost considerations when making this collective decision.

The Magellan-Elcano Tall Ships Race is a multi-port event, and this decision is also vital to enable ships and their crews to arrive in A Coruña in good time.

The team has taken a multitude of weather forecasts for both Friday and Saturday into careful, professional consideration. Ships will now be departing individually on Saturday, dependent upon the dynamic weather conditions and safety considerations for the ships and their crews.

The team recognises the bitter disappointment that will be experienced by everyone involved and invested in Falmouth Tall Ships. This includes the public, the crews, the local businesses, the sponsors and supporters, the volunteers and liaison officers, and everyone who has played a vital part in organising this impressive showcase within Cornwall’s historic port town.

We hope that everyone affected by this decision will understand and appreciate the circumstances which have led to it.”
