Photo dump from one magical (and sweaty) month exploring México's Yucatán state.

With Mérida as our home base, we rented a car every weekend to explore this culture-rich, jungle-covered state from top to bottom. Here are some of my fave memories 🐊🌮🌴

1. Roaming the enchanting ""Yellow City"" of Izamal and taking a million photos.
2. Climbing up Pirámide Kinich Kak Moo in Izamal to watch the sunset.
3. Eating succulent cochinita pibil tacos at the Netflix-famous in the tiny town of Tixkokob. The Xibalba-inspired (Maya underworld) cocktails were amazingggg.
4. Spotting flamingoes on our private boat trip through the UNESCO-protected biosphere of Ría Lagartos.
5. Watching terrifyingly huge crocodiles swim around our boat in Ría Lagartos.
6. Exploring the grand streets of Mérida (usually while sweating profusely).
7. Savoring passionfruit-infused micheladas (my new favorite thing🤤) and fresh ceviche, in the balmy Gulf breeze in Sisal, over live music.
8. Visiting Chichén Itzá, one of the 7 New Wonders of the World, first thing in the morning. We had this magnificent place almost to ourselves!
9. Staying in an impossibly charming (and pink!) 100-year-old hacienda just outside Izamal.
10. Spelunking in ancient underground caves and swimming in cenotes at (in the Riviera Maya; gifted visit).

Have you been to Yucatán state before? What are some of your favorite memories? ✨

Everything you need to know about Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica 🌊🐒

SAVE THIS POST FOR LATER!

💚 The park is open every day of the year, except Tuesdays, from 7 am to 4 pm.

👀 You should absolutely pay extra for a guided tour - whether group or private. You will see WAY more wildlife, thanks to your guide's well-trained eye (and scope!).

🎟 You HAVE TO book tickets in advance on the official SINAC website - and select your entry window. (Hint: choose the earliest one.) In high season (Dec-April), plan ahead!

💰 Tickets are about $18 USD per adult to enter.

🐒 Some guided tours purchase your entry ticket for you, but many don't. Double check!

⏰ Arrive at 7 am - right when the park opens - to see the most wildlife and avoid the crowds.

🦥 Get ready to see some incredible creatures - including rare squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, sloths, snakes, and so many more!

🌊 The park is home to some breathtaking beaches. You could spend the whole day just beach hopping!

🍽 You can't take any food or single-use plastic into the park; there's a small kiosk inside to buy snacks and drinks.

🌴 There are lots of great hikes in the park. After your guided experience, hit the well-maintained trails to explore the rainforest.

🐍 Don't feed the animals, watch them only from a safe distance, and don't leave your stuff unattended on the beach (those capuchins are cheeky AF!).

🛏 You can't stay overnight in the park, so find a hotel in the nearby town.

☀️ Bring: Comfy, breathable clothing; a hat; sunglasses; swimsuit; beach towel; flip flops; hiking shoes; water in a reusable bottle; natural sunscreen (I love the brand Thrive, on Amazon!); and natural insect repellent.

Have you visited Manuel Antonio before?! Do you have any tips to add?

Visiting Costa Rica soon? SAVE THIS POST 🐒🌴🇨🇷

You could spend months exploring Costa Rica and never run out of incredible places to explore.

Here are a few of my favorite spots, in order of slides:

🌋 La Fortuna: At the foot of the Arenal Volcano, you'll find the adventure capital of Costa Rica. From hot springs to waterfalls to rope swings to ziplines, there are so many fun things to do here.

🐒 Manuel Antonio: Pristine beaches meet fauna-filled hiking trails in this national park. From squirrel monkeys to sloths to snakes, you'll see SO much wildlife here.

🧘‍♀️ Nosara: One of Costa Rica's OG ex-pat communities, come here for yoga studios, friendly surf, rustic-chic vibes, fabulous restaurants like , and my favorite luxury hotel in Costa Rica .

🏄 Playa Negra: We call this secret little village home while in Costa Rica. The epic surf, peaceful rustic pura vida beach vibes, awesome community, and the best coffee are a few reasons why.

🌳 Monteverde: About 1% of the world's forests are cloud forests. This unique ecosystem is home to seriously stunning flora and fauna - especially gigantic ficus trees and colorful birds. A creepy nighttime jungle tour is a must here!

👙 Papagayo Peninsula: This peninsula features the most luxurious resorts and stunning coastal views in the country. We stayed at and it was beyond dreamy. Witch's Rock (a top surf spot) is nearby.

🏝 Santa Teresa: Great surf, beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, ATV adventures, and wild jungle parties await.

Want alllll the details? I just published the ultimate Costa Rica itinerary! It's packed with all of the best destinations, things to do, and tips to plan YOUR ideal Costa Rica trip.

One more Cartagena dump. 💁‍♀️

Vibrant streets. Coconut lemonade. Horse-drawn carriages. Coffee. Caribbean Sea breeze. Fried snapper. Insanely hot days. Amazing street art (in Getsemaní). Fabulous cocktail bars. Seafood rice. Boutique shops. Balmy nights. Ice-cold beer. Locals trying to sling every souvenir, fruit, botano, and illicit substance you can think of. No, gracias. Rum cocktails. Street performers. Arepas. Palenqueras. And learning about centuries of dark, tumultuous, fascinating history.

That's my quick summary of this colorful, chaotic, culture-packed city.

Cartagena photo dump 💃🇨🇴

From the walled city's colorful streets to the 16th-century pirate fortress (San Felipe Castle) to the iconic Palenquera ladies who sell fruit (and photo ops) around every street corner, this city's rich history is palpable.

A few random notes:

TBH, Cartagena was a little too touristy for my taste... But at the same time, it's an unmissable Colombian destination.

Beyond roaming aimlessly, quite literally, all we did in Cartagena was eat seafood, drink coffee, and sip cocktails. For two weeks. That is not a complaint. 🤤

We dined at Afro-Caribbean restaurants galore (fried snapper and coconut rice, por favor!), but my two faves were and .

And every morning, .epoca was our obligatory first stop. Go for a Chemex with their Resistencia Tropical beans! Unreal.

Oh, and I almost forgot the best part: Centenario Park. Home to a troop of cotton-top tamarin monkeys, a family of sloths, and lots of iguanas, you can't miss this little slice of nature amidst the chaos.

Have you been to Cartagena? What did you think?

SAVE THIS POST! Your guide to Tayrona National Park 🌊

For one of the most popular places in Colombia, planning a trip to Tayrona National Park isn't simple. Mostly due to the fact that this park is massive, and you can only get in via a (very) hot, sweaty hike or boat.

I spent two full days in the park so I've put together some top Tayrona tips for you!

👉 The easiest way to get to Tayrona is to stay overnight in nearby Santa Marta, then catch a taxi or bus to the park first thing in the morning.

👉 Entry to the park costs between $14-$17 USD per day for foreigners, depending on the season. You also have to purchase the park's health insurance.

👉 The park opens at 7 AM. Arrive around 6:30 so you can grab some breakfast and get in the ticket line early.

👉 There are two entrances: El Zaino, which is the main, most popular entrance, and Calabazo, which is the quieter entrance (and requires slightly more hiking).

👉 You can sleep overnight in the park! There are hammocks and tents for rent... But staying in them looked like hell on earth to me, honestly. It's waaay too hot and humid for that!

👉 There are also small ecohotels and glamping spots to stay at. We stayed at Ecohotel Yachay which is accessible from the El Zaino entrance. We loved it, and the rooms even had AIR CONDITIONING.

👉 The park closes every year during Feb, June, and Nov/Oct to give the park's indigenous population some peace, and to let the flora and fauna recover. Plan ahead!

👉 Tayrona is HUGE (around 58 mi²), so I'd recommend visiting longer than a day trip if you can. There are SO many beautiful beaches to enjoy!

👉 We saw the most wildlife first thing in the morning, before the crowds and heat arrived. Get up early and follow the sounds of the jungle 🐒

👉 There are mosquitos, so take bring some natural, eco-friendly repellent!

👉 Natural, reef-safe sunscreen is also a must. I love Thrive mineral sunscreen (buy it on Amazon).

👉 My favorite beach was the nudist beach! There was no one there, and tons of shade.

TBH, this only scratches the surface of things you need to know! Blog post coming soon-ish.

Have you been to Tayrona? Would love to know your thoughts or tips!

I recently lived in Medellín for a month. And loved it.

Partly because of how perfect the climate is. And how green the city is - there are lush mountainous landscapes and fruit trees everywhere you look!

But especially since our apartment was in the heart of Manila, the coolest neighborhood in all of El Poblado, IMO.

In Medellín, we smashed out work. Made other digital nomad friends. Explored the city up and down - from Evigado to El Poblado to Laureles to Comuna 13. Joined a gym. Rode the cable car up to Parque Arvi. Fell more in love with Botero's quirky art at Plaza Botero and the Museum of Antioquia. Savored daily breakfast and coffees at either or the fab Aussie/Kiwi-style (which made us miss our two homes down under a little extra: Queenstown and Byron Bay). Shopped. People-watched in the parks. And dined at some fabulous restaurants, especially .

Lively, fun, and super affordable, I have zero complaints about digital nomad life in Medellín.

Heading to Colombia soon? Save this post for later.

During my month-long stint digital nomading in Bogotá, I took a weekend trip into the Andes to check out a tiny town called Villa de Leyva. And I'm so glad I did!

This charming, whitewashed colonial town is as close as you can get to transporting yourself back to the 1600s.

Here are some of the top things to do in Valle de Leyva, Colombia 🧡
👀 People watch in the gigantic Plaza Mayor
👣 Roam the quaint cobblestone streets
🍷 Go wine tasting at the local vineyards
🐊 Marvel at a 120-million-year-old GIANT fossil at 'Museo El Fosil'
🌿 Hike in the Igaque National Park
🍴 Tuck into a farm-fresh lunch at Mercado Muncipal
👛 Shop traditional handicrafts at the Saturday Market
😋 Try Milhojas (crunchy puff pastry filled with creme patissiere and topped with dulce de leche, thank me later!) at La Galleta Pasteleria Café

Head to the blog for my full guide on Villa de Leyva, featuring everything you need to know - from the best things to do, where to eat, where to stay, how to get there, and more!

Have you ever seen water so blue IRL?!

Spending time on the Caribbean island of San Andrés, ice-cold Colombian beer in hand, was nothing short of perfection 💙

Compared to the tranquil paradise island of Providencia, San Andrés is more of a party vibe. Not pictured: reggaetón blaring through the speakers, big smiles, and very (very) knotted-up hair on this $20/pp all-day boat trip to the best snorkeling spots around the island.

Providencia Island = Foodie Heaven 🤤😍

Prepare to be hungry. Because OMG 🤤😍 (And also, bring a deck of cards while you wait, because... island time.)

This Caribbean island is all about seafood. Indulging in snapper, lobster, conch, black crab, shrimp, and so much more.

Not a meal goes by without a side of coconut rice and plantains either.

Here are a few of my fave spots to eat on the island 👇

🐠 Big Mama's Sweet Taste: You will love Big Mama (Elvina) and her delicious food! The fish with her signature sauce is incredible. But the best part was sitting and chatting with her on her porch for an hour, hearing about life in Providencia - the good times and the bad.

🐠 El Divino Niño: Hang out on one of the many lounge chairs at South West Bay and sip on coco locos all day long. Take your pick from fried snapper, black crab, seafood rice, ceviche, seafood cazuela (coconut seafood stew), or my personal favorite, the mixed seafood platter (plato mixto).

🐠 Delmar's Beach Bar: Located on the sand at beautiful Almond Bay, hanging here is the perfect way to spend a day. Delmar serves whatever’s fresh - like whole fried fish, ceviche - and hosts sunset bonfires over traditional music.

Reasons to visit Providencia Island, Colombia 🌴

☀️ It's seriously off the beaten track - we felt like we had the entire island to ourselves!

☀️ The beaches are stunning - look at that blue!

☀️ Those azure seas host the world's third-largest barrier reef - so the amazing snorkeling and diving opportunities are endless!

☀️ The local culture is rich and unique - Raizales, an Afro-Caribbean, Creole-speaking people, call the Colombian islands of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina home.

☀️ This island is a seafoodie's dream - from whole fried red snapper to shrimp ceviche, we ate SO well here 😋

☀️ Providencia is a mountainous island - hiking up to El Pico (The Peak) rewards you with panoramic views of lush mountains and the ""Sea of Seven Colors""!

☀️ The locals are super warm, friendly, and proud to share their paradise with you!

☀️ And most of all, the entire island was devastated by Hurricane Iota in 2020. Every peso you spend here makes a huge difference in their efforts to rebuild!

When you visit Colombia, you HAVE TO come here. If you don't believe me, swipe through some snaps of our time in Providencia!

What else would you like to know? 🙌

10 awesome things to do in Bogotá 🌈

Save this post if you're visiting Colombia soon!

⛪️ Explore La Candelaria: This vibrant, artistic neighborhood is packed with charming colonial architecture, street art, cobblestone streets, and a captivating fusion of history and culture.

😋 Try Colombian food on a foodie tour: Bogotá is the best city to try traditional Colombian cuisine, like ajiaco, arepas, and tamales!

👣 Go on a free street art tour: Graffiti is legal in Bogota (in part, thanks to Justin Bieber), so you're going to see some incredible murals. A grafitti tour with is the best way to start learning about Colombia's culture and history.

🏛 Visit the museums: There are lots to choose from, but you CAN'T miss the Museo Botero or the Museo del Oro (Gold Museum).

🌿 Peak at Monserrate: For a breathtaking view (literally) of Bogotá, take the funicular or cable car (or hike!) up to Montserrate, which sits at 10,341 ft above sea level.

💥 Play tejo: Similar to co****le but a lot more chaotic, Colombia’s national sport involves throwing a tejo (metal disk) at explosive targets. And drinking beer. Need I say more?

🍷 Fine-dine in Zona G: Zona G is home to a collection of swanky, modern Colombian restaurants and two of the World's 50 Best - and !

👛 Browse the Sunday Flea Market in Usaquén: This outdoor market features a vibrant atmosphere, live music, and artisanal stalls selling all sorts.

🍎 Visit the Paloquemao Fruit Market: Browse this traditional market for a slice of authentic Bogotá life.

🍻 Bonus: Have a beer or two at mi amigo Juán José's craft brewery,

Located in the heart of the Coffee Triangle, Salento quickly became one of my favorite places in Colombia - it's SO pretty!

The quaint, colorful streets hit you with an undeniably joyful vibe from the second you arrive. And so does the caffeine. Highly recommend spending at least a few days here when visiting Colombia!

Name a place you’ve visited that has totally lived up to the hype... And more?

Kauai was that for me!

The whole time I was there, I felt like Mother Nature was putting on a just show for us.

There were dolphins, whales, turtles, torrential downpours, the clearest turquoise waters, rainbows, stunning beaches, palm trees swaying in the warm breeze, and the most immaculate sunsets 🌅

06/08/2023

Kauai is foodie paradise.

Here are your Kauai must-eats and where to find them 😋

🐠 Poké
If you're not familiar, poké is a Hawaiian staple: a dish of fresh, raw cubes of fish - typically, tuna - marinated, and often served with rice and other toppings. It is beyond delicious. I ate a *lot* of poké on the island, and some of my favorites are: , Konohiki, Koloa Fish Market, and Ishihara Market (which sadly just closed after 90 years). I also discovered that the more a fish market looks like a ""hole in the wall,"" the better... Grocery store poké? Yes, please.

🍧 Shave Ice
Refreshing on a hot day, shave ice is a Hawaiian dessert made by shaving a block of ice and flavoring it with syrups. Sometimes it's topped with fruit, sometimes filled with macadamia or vanilla soft serve. Heaven. Some of my fave spots on the island are , , and .

🍸 Mai Tais
Hanging out with your mates over a mai tai (or a few) in Kauai is, simply, the best. Beeline it to for tiki bar vibes and live music, and for a pricier but oh-so-worth-it sunset dinner. Yes, you need reservations for both.

🍣 Sushi
Fresh fish is abundant in Kauai. And Hawaii is home to a large population of Japanese-Americans. So, obviously, sushi is a must! The food truck serves up the prettiest sushi on the island, but it's equally as fresh and delish. This quick stop before hopping on my flight back to snowy Oregon was a highlight. 's in Hanapepe (AKA the real-life Lilo & Stitch town) features live music over specialty rolls and sashimi... Crispy rice topped with spicy tuna? I'll take 10.

Kauai appreciation post 🌴☀️🌿⛰

Have you been before? (And if not, why not!?!)

I recently went on a girls' trip to Kauai to celebrate my bestie's birthday. And honestly... This island blew me away 🌴🌈

The oldest of the Hawaiian islands, Kauai is known as the "Garden Island" for its lush greenery. Not to mention its epic surf, chilled-out vibes, and stunning tropical landscapes. It's actually ridiculous how beautiful this island is.

Helicopter rides, sandy beaches, fresh-catch poké bowls, rafting to the Nā Pali Coast, amazing sushi, mai tais made with local rum, pool hangs, food trucks, and some of the friendliest locals ever made this trip one to remember.

I'll share more about this trip in the coming days! But for now, if you're looking for the *best-ever* Kauai itinerary, I've got you.

My Kauai guide is jam-packed with adventure, some of the best foodie spots on the island, and plenty of time for pool-side cocktails. Check it out via the link in my bio or below!

Introducing Guanajuato 🌈

📍 Guanajuato City, Guanajuato State, Mexico

Here's the 411 👇

🌈 Nestled in the heart of Central Mexico, Guanajuato City is the capital Guanajuato State - about 1.5 hours from San Miguel de Allende. (Name a better duo.)

🌈 It's off the beaten path. Come here for an authentic experience, and to escape the crowds of Mexico's tourist hotspots!

🌈 From rooftop bars (those views!) and museums to hiking trails and local wineries, there are so many things to do!

🌈 It is *seriously* pretty - I could have wandered its colorful, winding cobblestone streets forever

🌈 In the mid-16th century, Guanajuato became one of the richest silver mining centers in the world. It was also the first major city to fall to Miguel Hidalgo, (A.K.A. The Father of Mexico) in Mexico's War of Independence against the Spanish. This place is steeped in Meican history and heritage.

🌈 The historic center is a quite safe... But as always, stay alert!

I can confirm, this city is worth putting on your Mexico bucket list 🇲🇽

I have a detailed guide for you on the blog! It covers all the best things to do, insane local food to eat, where to stay, and all the must-know tips! Link is in my bio ✌️

Heading to Mexico as a digital nomad? You'll be spoiled for choice!

Mexico is one of my favorite countries in the world. The food, the people, the diverse cultures, the beaches, and the affordable cost of travel and living are a few reasons why! And the great news for digital nomads is, there are SO many incredible destinations to choose from.

Some of my favorites include:

🇲🇽 Oaxaca City. This is the food and culture capital of Mexico, and my all-time favorite destination for its colorful streets, mezcal, ancient ruins, rooftop bars, bustling markets, world-class restaurants, and next-level street food.

🇲🇽 Mexico City. It's difficult to find a more fun, vast, and vibrant city than CDMX. Also, al pastor tacos and Xochimilco... Enough said.

🇲🇽 San Miguel de Allende. A magical colonial city, home to fabulous restaurants, art galleries, hot springs, and endless charm. More expensive than the rest, but worth every peso.

🇲🇽 Sayulita and San Pancho. Tucked into lush jungle on the Riviera Nayarit, these two colorful towns are perfect for surfers and yogis. Choose Sayulita to party, or San Pancho for more authentic and chilled-out vibes.

🇲🇽 Guanajuato. One of the prettiest and most unique cities in the country, IMO!

Here's a quick iPhone snap from our recent road trip through Costa Rica - hiking through Manuel Antonio National Park 🇨🇷

From the mystifying cloud forests of Monteverde, to the pristine beaches of Manuel Antonio, to the to the epic waterfalls, natural hot springs, and hanging bridges surrounding the Arenal Volcano & La Fortuna, this was a road trip to remember!

We hiked, zip-lined, beached, kayaked, went on night jungle walks (creepy!), and saw so much wildlife - including sloths, toucans, rare squirrel monkeys, snakes, crocodiles, and poison dart frogs 🐊🐒🐍🦥🐸

Lots more to share on this soon - including the ultimate first timer's Costa Rica itinerary!

We're currently settled into our favorite little beachside village in Guanacaste for the entire summer (again). It's the start of the rainy season here, but it's actually my favorite time of year here. It's so lush and beautiful, and there are no crowds!

Say hi in the comments, and let me know what you're up to this summer! Where you're traveling to. And what exotic things you're cooking! I'm so excited to have a fully stocked kitchen again! 😋
