Chesterton Businesses! Join in on the inaugural Chesterton Business Holiday Window Competition! Let's make Chesterton beautiful and bright this holiday season with our theme "Glitter and Glow".

To participate, please fill out the registration form located on our website at www.visitchesterton.org . Click on "Holiday Windows 2024". Deadline to register is Friday November 8th.

Windows must be complete by November 30th to coincide with the Hometown Holiday Celebration and the launch of public voting. Public voting will run November 30 - December 14, and the winners will be announced on December 16th. Each business will get a QR sign to hand to direct folks to the voting website

There are great prizes for the top three vote-getters!

First prize is a free 1/6 page ad in Travel IN magazine, a $300 value!
2nd prize is a week of complimentary advertisements of the Duneland Chamber of Commerce's digital billboard, valued at $125!
Third prize is $100 from Chesterton Branding and Leadership Corp to use for sponsored social media posts!

It’s coming back this year!! 🎅 🚂

CP Holiday Train scheduled to pass through Downtown Chesterton again this season

The Town of Chesterton’s page was privileged in both 2022 and 2023 to post videos of the Canadian Pacific’s Holiday Train—brilliantly illuminated for the season—as it passed through the Downtown on the Norfolk Southern line.

This year, it would appear that the Holiday Train is going to pass through Chesterton again, probably EARLY in the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 26, en route to a performance between 7 and 7:30 p.m that night in Franklin Park, Ill.

Heather Weigand Huckelby—a longtime fan of the Holiday Train who has graciously shared her videos of its highballing through the Downtown—says that the train typically passes through Chesterton between 3 and 4 a.m.

The Town of Chesterton will post more detailed information as it becomes available.

Shop your spooky heart out! Chesterton Art Center is celebrating the final Chesterton Third Friday of the season with a Spooky Pop-Up event featuring the work of twelve local artists with a cash bar and light bites on Friday, October 18 from 4-8pm. Look forward to artists showcasing their unique haunted creations, including handmade jewelry, prints, ceramics, sculpture, and more! Immerse yourself in the spirit of Halloween through this delightful shopping experience and connect with artists from your community. All are welcome, and don’t forget to wear your favorite festive attire!

Spooky Pop-Up participating artist Emily Blossom shares that she “can't wait to be part of the Spooky Pop-Up Event at the Chesterton Art Center!” Blossom expresses her excitement about sharing her art with the community and “letting her spooky creativity loose!” “The Chesterton Art Center is always brewing up new ways to spread the love for local art,” she adds.

Chesterton Art Center brings vibrance and creativity to our community by hosting events that provide space to celebrate art and engage with local artists. The Spooky Pop-Up participating artists include Maureen Duffy-Daugavietis, Georgia Geis, Laurel Izard, Morgan Johnson, Jayde McAloon, Mindy Milan, Emily Blossom, Susan Brandsetter, Zoe Gladkowski, Dorothy Graden, Alice Nebelsiek-Piorkowski, and artists from CAC’s Teen Arts Group.

Chesterton Third Fridays offer joyful evenings throughout downtown Chesterton from May through October, bringing together local retail, dining, shopping, and arts businesses. October 18th will feature this art pop-up event at CAC along with other happenings throughout town. Visitors should plan for a full evening of restaurant promotions, walking tours, live music, and arts programming.

Register now for next HISTORIC CHESTERTON WALKING TOUR will be TOMORROW!

The Westchester Township History Museum will host its next Historic Chesterton Walking Tour from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, as part of the Third Friday series.
The tour will leave from the Westchester Public Library’s Thomas Branch, 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton.

A knowledgeable museum staffer will be your guide to the history of Downtown Chesterton and some of its most unique and historic buildings and houses.
Walking and standing will be required. Water bottle, hat, and sunscreen are highly recommended.

You must register for this event and each tour will be limited to 20 people.
Should a tour be canceled due to weather (rain, heat, air quality), it will not be rescheduled.
