A Brit in love with Finland Fell in love with Finland and it's people, trying to learn the language and planning multiple trips! Since then, I've thought of nowhere else.

I had the fortune to travel to and get married in Äkäslompolo, Finland in January 2016. I've started this page to share the things I take interest in about Finland and the Finnish people with whom I feel a certain affinity. If you're heading to Lapland, or dreaming of it, or just curious, you cannot go wrong with the official Finnish Meteorological Institute app. Met Office, BBC, AccuWeather, Apple weather, they aren't in Finland - and it's an environment where weather changes quickly.

And so, I can see there are many British people going to Lapland, hoping for revontulet (Aurora). The best way of seeing if you can have a chance of seeing this incredible show is via two apps.
Aurora app. FMI (Finnish Meteorological Institute I think) app.
One gives KP, the estimate of required "chemicals" (I'm not a scientist) and the other gives forecast of the cloud.

With winter approaching the beautiful nation and people of Finland again, and the travel world being considerably more likely to deliver our dreams - it won't be long (seven weeks!!! 🥳) until we're dragging our sleds from the K-Mart loaded with delicious foods, getting into the sauna, and sitting by the fire.
Truly very excited to be back. As I'll be back in Äkäslompolo, no doubt we'll visit a few of the amazing places we've experienced, and maybe some new ones too.
