There 2-year-old daughter was so intrigued by what she could spot through the surface she started to hold her breath and look for fish underwater! Soon enough the entire family was snorkeling together. 🐠🐡🐟⠀ ⠀ So, what's the name of this magical place? Happy Friday and Valentine’s Day! Skip the roses and chocolate covered strawberries 🌹🍓 and instead surprise your loved ones with a vacation that will create memories of a lifetime. Need some inspiration? How about a romantic (of the besten path) adventure into the jungle...🌿🌱⠀ WHERE: Catarata Rio Agrio, Costa Rica 🇨🇷⠀ ⠀ WHY GO: Some of the most stunning waterfall photos you’ll take in Costa Rica 📷💕⠀ ⠀ NUGGETS OF ADVICE: ⠀ 1️⃣it’s quite off the beaten track and is a good drive from the more popular tourist areas. So be sure to rent a car and make sure it’s 4WD. The roads getting there aren’t too challenging, but it’s always good to have 4wD in general when driving around Costa Rica. ⠀ 2️⃣Don’t bother to use Google Maps since it doesn’t work well in CR which all the locals will tell you. Use Waze instead (I know, it’s owned by Google, but for some reason it’s different, and more importantly it works). ⠀ 3️⃣The hike to get to these falls is not difficult but can be a bit slippery at times as there aren’t many stones or bricks laid down on the path. Bring your hiking shoes or a good, sturdy pair of runners. ⠀ 4️⃣Lots and lots of bug spray and sunscreen for when the hike opens up to this clearing where the falls are located which is at the end of an approximately 15-30min hike depending on how fast you go. Our little guys aren’t the best hikers so we found our carriers immensely helpful. ⠀ 5️⃣Be sure to pack lots of snacks and water for the nuggets to keep them happy and hydrated. Sunscreen is also helpful for the clearing which can get quite a bit of sun shining in on a cloudless day! ⠀ ⠀ 📷 and nuggets of advice by ⠀ ⠀ Have you been to Costa Rica? Happy Wednesday! Is Iceland on your family's bucket list? 🇮🇸 shares their Top 3 experiences in Iceland with kids for today's series. And no the blue lagoon did not make the list 😲Do you agree? What's been your favorite place in Iceland?⠀ ⠀ 1️⃣ Lava 🌋 Tunneling: This was such a great experience because we went underground and traced the path where volcanic lava once flowed! We even got to see what real pitch-black darkness is really like⠀ ⠀ 2️⃣ Getting up close with Geysers and Glaciers: One moment you see geysers and the next minute are the glorious Glaciers! You can go glacier hiking or take a boat out into the glacier lagoons and they even let you taste pieces of the icebergs ❄️ which may well be 1000 years old⠀ ⠀ 3️⃣ The Auroras 🌌 : This was the primary reason we went but after three Northern lights trips, we’ve realized that you can’t base an entire trip in the hope of seeing them! We did get really lucky on the last day though! We're wrapping up our week of hidden treasures in China. But before we go we have one more treat for you. If your family loves history and wants to get away from the crowds .explore suggests you head to the ‘Ancient City of Taizhou’ (Linhai), in Zhejiang province, China. ⠀ ⠀ "We visited this city after a recommendation from a friend to see the Southern Great Wall, located around Linhai. The city wall is fantastic to walk with children - its 4.9km from start to finish but there are lots of places you can stop along the way. We’d recommend Linhai as a destination for families as it isn’t full of tourists, has beautiful lakes and parks, delicious restaurants and an incredible city wall to walk around. We traveled here by train and it was very convenient with great views along the way. We're back with another travel tip from .explore. Today they are taking us to Yangshuo, China, which should be at the very top of your travel bucket list. For more must-visit places in 2020 check the link in our bio. 🔝⠀ ⠀ "Undoubtedly one of the most incredible view we’ve ever seen. We were in constant awe of the area with its dramatic karst mountains. We spent a week in Yangshuo and loved every moment. ⠀ ⠀ 🏔WHAT TO DO: This photo was taken at the top of Wu Zhi Hill (Cuiping) which is a 30min drive from Yangshuo. We hired e-bike scooters for the day and explored the countryside. There are many points of interest in the area with plenty to see and do. ⠀ ⠀ 🏠WHERE TO STAY: We’d recommend ‘The Giggling Tree’ accommodation, lots of traveling families here with young children. One of the many reasons why we travel with kids is because we want them to see local traditions. When .explore visited China's Yangshuo with their kids, they had a chance to observe an ancient way of fishing...with birds. 🐟🐦⠀ ⠀ "There is a little fishing village on the edge of the Li River. At dusk we saw a cormorant fisherman arriving home with his basket full of fish so we went to have a look. This traditional style of fishing isn’t done much these days, so it was really interesting to see. ⠀ ⠀ If you’re visiting Yangshuo we’d also recommend the bamboo raft ride along the river, children have to be over 120cm tall though.
