Last Sunday marked the 43rd Annual Elk Lake Triathlon, the long standing tradition of multisport racing and pancakes on the August long weekend at Elk Lake!

The weather couldn’t have been better, the water was warm, the bike course was amazing and we can’t think of a much better place to run than around the lake on one of Victoria’s best trails.

Congratulations to all who raced and a HUGE thank you to everyone who volunteered, cheered and supported the event and the athletes!

We are thrilled to announce that this event raised over $4000 for our charity partner Help Fill A Dream Foundation, whose volunteers were keeping you hydrated at the aid station near the rowing club!

⚠️EVENT NOTIFICATION⚠️

A reminder to all Saanich, Central and North Saanich residents, the 43rd Annual Elk Lake Triathlon is taking place from Hamsterly Beach at Elk Lake on Sunday August 4th.

While we do not have any road closures, please ensure you leave yourself extra time, as there may be short delays in your travel time as the athletes complete the bike course portion of the event on your area roads.

1 week ago today marked the opening of the 2024 Dynamic Race Events race season at the Westwood Lake Triathlon!

A big thank you to the City of Nanaimo and the area residents around Westwood Lake Park for again welcoming us into community!

Sometimes you have to press pause…

We have made the difficult decision for 2024 to press pause on the Sagelands Triathlon.

While we know it will be disappointing for those registered (and those who were going to register), the race landscape simply can’t bear multiple triathlon events on the same weekend in the same area.

Our best efforts were made this year to not be going head to head with other events in the area, but after doing all of our due diligence with stakeholders and finding a new date, once we announced our date change for this year to avoid the conflict and opened our registration, we were subsequently informed that the other event was also moving their event from their traditional date…on to the same date we chose.

That, coupled with Ironman adding a 70.3 in Penticton for 2024, adds up to simply not enough athletes to make this a viable option right now.

The importance of looking at the Series as a whole and ensuring its viability moving forward is paramount. With our best efforts in the last two years, post-pandemic, the Series simply isn’t in the position to carry the burden of an event operating at a significant loss.

Again, we know there will be some disappointment, but we also know that athletes have other options, on the same weekend at the Peach Classic, or other events in the weeks before and after July 7th.

We love this venue, we love this course, we love this community…there is space for this event on the calendar…just not this year.

2023...that's a wrap! Perfect weather, amazing attendance, enthusiastic volunteers.

Big thanks to Cultus Lake Park for allowing us to take over the park to play triathlon! Wenting's Cycle Shop for being on site as bike tech. J. Beethoven's Pizza for helping us facilitate feeding almost 1000 people including athletes, volunteers and crew, Stratos Performance Nutrition for providing on course hydration, Cascade Physiotherapy & Chiropractic for massaging out those post race aches and Fraser Valley Junk Solutions for helping us leave Cultus Lake Park in as good of condition as how we found it!

We've had so many emails asking when athletes can secure their 2024 Series Passes! We love your enthusiasm and appreciate the ambassadorship our Series Athletes show!

As we don't officially open registration for the passes until we have finalized our calendar (Sagelands is a TBA on date), we haven't opened registration yet. Pass pricing will be approximately $600 - 675.

To facilitate athletes securing a pass we have created a Google Form (link below). You can respond to secure your pass, we will then send you an invoice for your deposit ($200), guaranteeing you a pass once we open registration. Your deposit will then be applied to your pass registration price. This option will be open until August 31st.

Did you race the Elk Lake Triathlon on Sunday August 6th?

Was your favourite part the non-wetsuit swim? The trail run? The pancakes?

We were privileged to have Connie Walters Dunwoody onsite snapping photos and capturing the day!

And what a day it was, near perfect race day weather, the introduction of aquathlon at this event as an AG World Championship qualifier and we even had a finish line proposal!

What a day we had at the inaugural Sagelands Triathlon! Congrats to all who raced last weekend...a non-wetsuit swim, challenging climbs and heat that wouldn't quit, we were the hottest place in Canada!
