June 1 is the International Children's Day, long celebrated in Poland. 👦 👧
The outstanding pedagogue Janusz Korczak (born as Hersh Goldsmit in 19C) was ahead of his time in the understanding of the world of children.
It is worth remembering his legacy ❤️

"A Child’s Petition" inspired by Janusz Korczak's texts
Do not spoil me. I know very well I should not have all I demand. I am just trying to challenge you.
Do not be afraid of firmness. This is just what I need - a sense of security.
Do not ignore my bad habits. Only you can help me fight evil while it is still possible.
Do not make me a bigger child than I am. It leads me to adopt a silly, adult-like pose.
Do not reprimand me in the presence of other people unless it is absolutely necessary. I care much more about what you say if we talk face to face.
Do not protect me from consequences. Sometimes it is good to learn about painful and unpleasant things.
Do not tell me that the mistakes I make are sinful. It threatens my sense of values.
Do not worry too much when I say I hate you. You are not my enemy, it is just your overwhelming superiority.
Do not pay too much attention to my minor ailments. Sometimes I use them to attract your attention.
Do not grump. Otherwise I have to defend myself against you and stop listening.
Do not make promises that cannot be kept I feel terribly surpressed when nothing comes of it all.
Do not forget that I find it difficult to express my thoughts precisely. That is why we do not always understand each other.
Do not check my honesty with obsessive persistence. Too easily, fear forces me to lie.
Do not be inconsistent. It stupefies me and then I lose all my faith in you.
Do not reject me when I torment you with questions. It may soon turn out that instead of asking you for explanations, I will look for them somewhere else.
Do not convince me that my fears are stupid. They simply are there.
Do not make yourself a pristine ideal. This image of you would be unbearable in the future. Do not imagine that you will lose authority apologizing to me. If we play fair, I can thank you with love you have not even dreamed about.
Do not forget that I love all kinds of experiments. It's just my way taking life, so turn a blind eye to it.
Do not be blind and admit that I am growing too. I know how hard it is to keep my pace in this gallop but do what you can to make a success.
Do not be afraid of love. Never.

Merry Christmas from Muzeum Wsi Lubelskiej 🎄✨
This is how our great-grandparents decorated their huts for Christmas. So many symbols and traditions...☺️

Podsumowując, koniecznie zajrzyjcie do:

📍chałupy z Żukowa (sektor Wyżyna Lubelska),
📍chałupy z Bukowej (sektor Roztocze),
📍plebanii z Żeszczynki, kościoła z Matczyna (sektor Miasteczko)
📍i dworu z Żyrzyna (sektor dworski).

Why in Poland we have 12 dishes for Christmas Eve dinner?
The origin of the tradition, which is 12 dishes for Christmas Eve, is not entirely known. For many people the first association with the twelve dishes is the number of apostles, of whom there were also twelve. For our ancestors, this number meant above all wealth, because not everyone could afford this number of dishes. Some also thought that 12 dishes should be prepared for Christmas Eve, because so many months are in a year.

On 11 November we celebrate Independence Day in Poland. 🇵🇱
Here is a short story of how Poland disappeared from the map of Europe for 123 years.

Our guests often ask about the partitions of Poland and the history of Independence Day, 11th of Novemeber. Although volumes have been written about it, I will try to convey briefly a piece of our Polish history. After the era of the hereditary dynasty (Piasts in 10th-14th C, Jagiellons in 14th-16th...

In Poland, the tradition of forest mushroom picking is very long. Dried or marinated mushrooms must be found in the pantry of every self-respecting housewife.

Naturally, there are other stores found in nature like wild berries, hazelnuts and more, but let me concentrate on wild forest mushrooms. Dried or marinated mushrooms must be found in the pantry of every self-respecting housewife. The...
