Yesterday in the Masai Mara I encountered a celebrity. Manywele one of the leaders of the famous Black Rock pride. The Masai Mara is undoubtedly one of the best places in Africa to see lions. In my first 24 hours here we have encountered many.

There is an estimated 1600 elephants in Amboseli, making this beautiful park one of the best places in Africa to see them.

Here's why June stands out: the rainy season gives way to drier days by mid-May, making it an optimal time to explore without the muddy roads. One of my favorite accomodations on my tours is Salt Lick Safari Lodge. In Tsavo West there isn't much water around between July and October. Therefore the animals congregate at the waterhole at the lodge. In the last 24 hours we have had multiple visits from elephants, zebra, buffalo baboons, waterbuck and more.
