Took a Look & Learn Tour at Pittsburgh International today!
✈️ All of the current gates and restrooms are being worked on, are done or will be done- this means new lighting, carpet, seats, charging and restrooms! (So pretty!!)
✈️ 15 new eateries/retail have been confirmed
✈️ The new parking garage will have over 3,000 new spaces and parking capacities will be tripled!
✈️ Baggage claim will be 3 miles long. (It won’t have to travel the 1/2 mile it use to at the current landside terminal.)
✈️ When you leave bag check, you’ll enter into security which will be 12 all brand new lanes & technology! (Keeping shoes on!!!) TSA pre and Clear will remain as well- with an added new TSA Pre option! 👀
✈️ There will be 3 outdoor spaces. 1 landside and 2 air. They are going to be beautiful! Even a walking trail!
✈️ In true Pittsburgh fashion, there will be a small bridge after security with a grand tunnel reveal to the NEW hub for airside! 😍
It’s truly going to be remarkable!
It will open quarter 3 this year. (Think late Sept or early Oct most likely.)
Another awesome fact is that $0 in local and state money was used! 40 million came from federal grants and the airlines paid for the rest!
Just over 98% of Pittsburgh air traffic is LEAVING or coming HERE—- only 2% is transferring to another flight. I thought that was incredible. Approx 10-11 million passengers a year —- when it was built in 1992 it had different needs and it’s so cool to see the changes being done to reflect current times! A lot of aspects modeled from the airport in Madrid!
🦖 grab pics with t-Rex because there’s a large chance he’ll go “extinct”!
🖤 Franco will be moving, along with the other statues to the new terminal.
