‘Discover Palestine’ is an initiative conceived by a group of experienced and passionate Palestinian tour guides who are committed to encouraging all travelers – Palestinians and international visitors alike - to discover this land from all aspects. We have a two-pronged approach:
Firstly, for most outsiders, the name ‘Palestine’ does not conjure up images of beauty and inspiration in the mind’s
eye. While hardships undeniably affect most aspect most of Palestinian life, we also want to challenge these purely-negative perceptions and offer a varied and holistic experience. Secondly, Palestinians themselves currently experience a social and geographical fragmentation due to the many restrictions on the ground. The result is that many Palestinians do not explore and enjoy all the remarkable natural beauty and inspiring humanity within their own land. Therefore, we also encourage and facilitate internal Palestinian tourism as a means of helping local Palestinians to fully enjoy everything their own land has to offer, as well as fostering acquaintances and bonds between those from all the fragmented regions and districts of Palestine. Our aim is to showcase the unique natural beauty, culture, cuisine, people, and historical layers of this astounding land through a variety of activities and by meeting locals who will offer a valuable and authentic insight into the Palestinian narrative. Having worked in the field of alternative tourism for more than a decade, we take pride in introducing explorers to alternative, little-known wonders in Palestine which lie far off the well-beaten tourist track. Our weekly trips will include hiking and biking along Palestine’s spectacular trails, camping under the desert stars, caving in the Chariton Valley cave system and olive harvesting, to name but a few. Founded in 2014 as a project to raises awareness about the situation in Palestine at international levels. We are a not for profit organization and our aim is to establish a homegrown alternative tourism movement for all people to truly discover Palestine and to experience it in a way they may not have expected.
