Travel Tales in the time of COVID: Wine Country, Central CA.
Deciding how and where to travel:
1) What is the likelihood that you will feel safe and comfortable in this place? For example, will businesses have safety protocols, will there be outdoor eating options, can you have great food delivered if you prefer not to dine in a restaurant?
2) Is there enough to do outdoors that the trip will feel fun and free for adventure? For you, that may be a walkable city, or national park. Consider the time of year: it may be snowy or rainy which would dampen or freeze your enthusiasm!
3) Are you going to feel that the way you need to get there is safe for your health? Are you open to flying and masking up? Can you drive in your vehicle? Is the place you want to stay in holding extra cleaning standards?
My daughter and I cancelled a trip to a city where we would have been inside most of the time (because of weather and what we wanted to do) and instead went to Napa/Sonoma. We explored Muir Woods: many masked even outside in the busier parts. We walked the little towns of wine country, and took beautiful drives in State Parks and the hills. This location was ideal for us.
