"We had a lovely stay at the chateau in Champagne. Beautiful 4* hotel, lovely staff and excellent restaurant. I am sure we will visit again."

If you thought all luxury hotels are stuffy, formal places, think again!

The Hood family thoroughly enjoyed their stay at the fabulous chateau that we partner with in the Champagne region.

It's child-friendly, relaxed, welcoming and has a great chef who uses fresh, local, seasonal produce when creating meals for the excellent restaurant.

There are various room options and a stay here won't break the bank!

Oh, and it's only a 3h15 drive from Calais!

Fancy treating yourself to a Spring break? Go on, you know you want to!

"We had a lovely overnight stay at the chateau near Valenciennes. Clare was very helpful, especially in booking us a table in the local restaurant. We had a good breakfast which set us up for the next stage of our journey."

After 2 years of restrictions, it's just wonderful to see travellers finally able to enjoy travelling again.

This warm and welcoming chateau B&B in north east France, near Valenciennes and the Belgian border, has always been popular with people travelling down to the south of France.

But why not use it as a base for a mountain biking or road cycling break, as there are some lovely country lanes and offroad options in the immediate vicinity.

There's something so timeless about watermills, don't you think?

I don't know about you, but my imagination goes into overdrive whenever I'm in an old watermill!

I picture the miller in days gone by, using the power of Nature to mill his grain, bagging it and selling it to people from neighbouring hamlets.

This quite wonderful 18th C watermill near Loches in the Loire Valley is a fabulous renovation and retains many of its original features.

It's located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on its own little island in the Indre river.

It has a small private sandy beach and beautiful gardens with a choice of terraces overlooking the river.

Laurent serves excellent evening meals created from local, seasonal produce and would be delighted to welcome you into his home.

If you're looking for a short break then do yourself a favour and add this special address to your bucketlist!

Delightful watermill B&B near the Medieval town of Loches, the castles of Amboise and Chenonceau and Loire Valley vineyards. Peace and quiet

Being stuck in traffic really can get your holiday off to a bad start.

So being able to get a handle on where the traffic jams are likely to be along your route and also get live traffic data while you're travelling is a huge benefit.

I always use Bison Futé to plan my journeys.

It's a comprehensive resource that takes so much stress out of a journey in peak holiday time.

On that subject, this weekend is the biggest public holiday weekend of the year in France, so the roads are going to be very busy!

But thanks to Bison Futé you may be able to avoid the worst of the traffic.

Bon weekend!

The Alps are not the only mountain range in France.

Sure, they're the biggest, the most well known and consequently the most visited.

But if you'd prefer to explore a mountainous area that's altogether wilder, more authentic and with outstanding gastronomy, history and culture, then head for the Pyrenees.

Marion's B&B is in a beautiful, peaceful situation in the Couserans area of the particularly rugged and unspoiled Ariège Pyrenees.

This is an area for hiking, road cycling, discovering great food and learning about the local wildlife which includes a healthy population of brown bears!

Marion does superb evening meals, although you may prefer to pop out to eat at one of the excellent local eateries in a neighbouring village.

This dog friendly B&B near Saint Girons in the Ariege Pyrenees is all about peace and quiet, mountain beauty and great food. Stay a while and explore.
