Whale watching up in the Arctic Circle on our recent adventure with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions onboard the NatGeo Explorer. This was a group of 8 humpbacks. We observed them for about an hour. Five flukes were photographed and submitted to HappyWhale for identification, and tracking to follow where they travel and spend time.

We are just a month away from our expedition with Lindblad/NatGeo on the National Geographic Explorer and less than a month away from departing the US. We'll be exploring the wild northwest coast of Iceland by land and sea. We're starting to receive our expedition documents and have our expedition luggage tags, and name tags. Our custom expedition jackets and boots - specialized to reduce environmental impact, were ordered ahead. These items will be delivered for us to the ship. We'll also be packing our rain gear since weather near the Arctic Circle is unpredictable with current daytime temperatures in the 40's.
