Outstanding
Initially booked for 2 people, but my friend was unwell. So I went on the tour alone, just as a lightening and thunderstorm started and I got absolutely soaked.
My very friendly and professional Lady Guide Anne gave me some guidance about how to mount the bike, stay safe and provided me with a rain poncho.
So the City Tour does not necessarily focus on the obvious tourist attractions, but more the unseen and, for me, the more authentic and raw sights of the city - exactly what I was after. Anne was more than happy to stop, where possible, for me to grab snaps as I wished and was a great photographer.
I felt very safe with her riding through horrendous traffic, which was brilliant fun in itself.
Lots and lots of information provided by Anne throughout and access to the real Hanoi sights, sound, smells - and food, lunch provided. OMG! You've got to try the Egg Coffee and the Salted Coffee too..nom, nom, nom 😘
4 hours flew by and we covered so much Long Bien Bridge, Train Street, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Parliament House, B52 Museum and the Banana Fields etc with lots of time for belly laughs and fun too.
I felt I had been on a trip with a good friend, rather than a guide and loved every second of it - getting soaking wet was a bonus.
At the end of the tour I was offered the opportunity to go on the Evening 'Foodie Tour' of Hanoi. Do it, do it ... it's an amazing experience!👊
In the evening it was a mixed group of 3 Japanese guys, who didn't speak a word of English, Vietnamese and I think they struggled to speak Japanese too - plus 4 new guides. My Lady Guide was the utterly delightful Mai, we met Anne later.
The food was incredible, so varied and delicious and the quantities were enormous - you will not go hungry or thirsty. The dessert, may favourite dessert EVER was the creme caramel, on mango slices, smothered in condensed milk and coconut milk sauce. I thought I had gone to heaven.
By the end of the evening with the aid of food, drink, heat, the power of Google Translate, lots of arm waving and laughter we were all firm friends and Anglo/Japananese/Vietnamese relations had been firmly welded together.
Bring a sense of adventure, an appetite (make it large), an ability to laugh at yourself (you'll laugh an awful lot) and a camera - you'll need them all.
Highly recommend these trips, this company and lovely Anne and Mai to anyone thinking of visiting Hanoi. Your Lady Guided tour is a great and unique selling point and will be a brilliant success.
Thank you all for some wonderful memories!
