Hi Orlando,

firstly thank you so much for a wonderful two days. We really packed it in to our short visit to Porto. Both days were incredible. You really went to great trouble to accommodate me and my disability today. Much thanks. After the port +++ and the vino at lunch, I was fit for bed. When you dropped us back to hotel, we went straight to bed and slept for an hour before dinner tonight. It was a very wonderful day. Action packed. We are very grateful to you and your incredible knowledge for showing us your beautiful part of Portugal. Cos of parking, we couldn’t shake a proper Irish hand of thanks as we departed but if we back in Porto again, we will raise a glass. Thank you so much.

About local Orlando

Pick Orlando!!

It's rare to find great people, and it's even rare to find them online, when you are looking for city guide. Orlando is passionate, super knowledgeable and a true professional. We were traveling with our 3.5 yr old son, and he immediately customized the tour for us without even us asking. He made sure we saw the key things in the city and explained us the history. He answered some of our deep rooted European history questions that ChatGPT couldn't have answered. He was concerned that our kid wasn't feeling well, and went above and beyond to make sure we found the right hospital for children. We are so super thankful that we met Orlando! If you want to see Porto, and Orlando is available - it will be a mistake not to go with him!

Wonderful tour of Porto

Our family of four had a walking tour with Orlando at the end of June. Orlando was prompt and great to communicate with beforehand. He has such a rich historical knowledge of Porto and three hours wasn't long enough to hear all that he had to share! We enjoyed our time immensely with Orlando and would have liked to book some different tours with him and will do so if we return. It was a very hot day and Orlando catered for the heat beautifully so that we weren't walking up big hills too much in the hot sun. It was a great tour and worth every cent, thank you Orlando for your time and for sharing your knowledge with us, we loved it!

A fun day exploring Douro Valley

We had a great day with Orlando! He was a lovely and engaging host and by the end of the our tour we felt like old friends. The tour itself had a nice flow, boat ride, lunch, tasting at a winery with a great/funny guide. We also stopped in a cute town on the way home for some ham and wine, which turned out to be an unexpected highlight. All in all, would definitely book Orlando again if I find myself back in this awesome city.

Orlando was the perfect choice.

My wife and I got a tour of Porto’s highlights from Orlando yesterday. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history, architecture and people of Porto. In addition, he had a great sense of humor and was willing to share his opinions on things rather than providing answers that contained no substance. It was a walking tour, which we like, and we sat a number of times where Orlando brought up interesting facts about the particular area where we currently were. From my perspective, the place I enjoyed the most was the Bank of Building Materials, a truly unique place that allows people in Porto to blend in the history of Porto with the current and future state if the City. There were additional places to see, things to do and restaurants that Orlando recommended to us for the remainder of our stay in Porto. Perhaps more importantly, he also mentioned things not to do that were not worth the time and/or money spent during our brief stay in his wonderful city. All in all, we strongly recommend Orlando to provide his guide services during your time in Porto. Great guy and it was a great experience for us!

Porto is so much more then Trolley Cars, Waterfront bars & 6 Bridges boat rides, and yes even more then the Livraria Lello book store!
Take a magical Street tour with Orlando. He will bring the the city to life for you. As a wonderful storyteller and his vast knowledge of the city he loves, you'll learn why the first King left his heart in Porto. You'll see the nooks & crannies of the old streets of Porto and know why the city takes pride in their tile clad buildings. Trust me the Material Bank was amazing. We enjoyed our City tour with Orlando so much we also booked a Douro Valley tour with him. You will have a day to remember when you spend time with the Storyteller.

We had a great time with Orlando! He showed us great spots and gave us a lot of information about Porto. He told the story’s with so much passion that you could follow it very easily. Besides that we had so much fun and a lot to laugh about. It was just great and we would always do it again! :)Awesome Tour!

I just realized I never wrote my review and honestly, it’s worth saying, even a year later that this was the best tour we’ve ever been on. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. Orlando made the country come alive for us and answered every question and even spent extra time with us. We felt like we took a university course in a single afternoon and made a friend. A wonderful tour of Porto with Orlando!

We had a wonderful private tour of Porto with Orlando. He is very knowledgable, well informed, tells great stories with a lot of enriching information and took us to places only locals who truely love their city knows. Plus, he speaks very well English, is extremely friendly and outgoing. We are thankful to him for showing us Porto in a way we wouldn't have manage to see without this private tour. We highly recommend him as a guide!

Orlando is awesome. He was so generous, he picked us up in his personal vehicle at the entrance to our cruise terminal. He then drove us to a centrally located point of the city for us to begin our walking tour. Orlando is personable and has a great sense of humor. His knowledge of the history, architecture, and secret gems of Porto is exceptional. We were so fascinated by his stories. We learned about the cultural, historical, and social aspects of Porto. Orlando knows the city extremely well and we used the hidden stairways and shortcuts between buildings to get to the next street level. Be prepared to use your legs muscles. Porto is steep. The winding stairways from one level to the next are fascinating and have been there for centuries! What other way to climb a mountain! The views are also breathtaking. Don’t miss the modern kiosks in the McDonalds with crystal chandeliers and art in relief on the walls – wow. Orlando also accommodated my request to visit an antique mall prior to our drive back to the ship. If you want the BEST tour guide of Porto, look no further. Orlando is fantastic. Orlando knows the secret gems of Porto.

Great Day in the Douro Valley

We booked a day trip to the Douro Valley with Orlando. Our day included a one hour boat ride on the Duoro River, lunch and then a tour & port tasting at a beautiful winery. When we booked the day trip we asked if we could add a visit to a second winery. Orlando brought us to a small family-run winery where we had an excellent tour and tasting. Orlando did a wonderful job telling us about the area and made sure we had plenty of pictures from our day. We would highly recommend this day trip with Orlando.

Orlando was an amazing companion and guide for our walking tour of Porto. He was easy to communicate with prior to the tour and promptly responded to our messages. Our tour was well planned and hit all of our major “must see” sites. Orlando was easy to talk to and as we strolled the streets of Porto he kept the conversation rolling with interesting stories of Portugals history. The day concluded with a stop at a local bakery to sample Pastel de Nata. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Orlando and would highly recommend him for anyone looking to see the cities major sites while having a great history lesson woven into the tour.10/10 Amazing Day!

A very lovely and informative day.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Orlando. After picking us up at our hotel, he told us of much of the history of the city as we made our way up to the Douro Valley. There, we gained an understanding of life in the valley, both now and over its long history. He was a fountain of information, and a real pleasure to spend time with.

Fantastic tour with a wonderful guide
Orlando is an amazing, kind and friendly person and a fantastic knowledgeable guide. He knows so much about the country, it's history and culture, and tells it in exciting and humorous way. It was a wonderful experience having this full day trip with him. Orlando organized everything perfectly and took care of every little thing so that everything went smoothly. We went on a fascinating route through the Douro vineyards, had a picturesque and refreshing boat cruise, and then a delightful lunch in the restaurant picked by Orlando. Afterwards, we had an opportunity to visit a vineyard, and to have a tour there followed by the tasting of port wines. We stopped on the route a few times to make photos in particularly beautiful places. All the time Orlando was taking great care of us, making sure that we are happy and satisfied. We would go on another tour with Orlando anytime, and are actually looking forward to our next trip to Porto to have a new tour with Orlando.

Custom family tour Douro Valley/Guimaraes

Due to unforeseen circumstances I booked Orlando just 36 hours before our tour. Not only was he able to customize this last minute experience but one would think he does this tour all the time. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children (11 and14). We did want to experience Douro Valley which is breathtakingly but as the only adult wine taster it really couldn’t be the only part of our day. If you are planing a tour with children, Guimaraes is an amazing compliment to the trip. It is a beautiful medieval city full of charm without the over the top tourism. Orlando was thoughtful and even preordered our lunch while we took the boat on the river. That was a huge win for my hungry family. That kind of planning is what makes a good tour a great tour. Thank you!

My family and I had a fantastic walking tour of Porto with Orlando. He was knowledgeable and informative throughout the time. We all learned so much about Porto and its amazing history. First off - due to the fact that we were in Porto for 4 days already, Orlando met a couple that had seen quite a bit of the city. So we met and started the tour right off. And there we were with a guide so passionate about his city. He told us about his experiences over time and how he saw the city change over a course of at least 10 years. Orlando told us a lot of the history of Porto in such an easy way. If we changed one thing it would be the timing of the tour. You should start a trip to Porto with Orlando‘s guidance. Memorable and unique view of Porto

I'm not usually the walking tour type - big walking tours can feel like staged productions. With Orlando, it felt like visiting a friend in a new city who was very proud to show it off. No dramatic reenactments or endless dates and names that you'll never remember. Instead he focused on the culture of Porto, how it became the city it is today (with some dates and names thrown in), and how its growing. We saw the highlights, got those instagramable photo ops, but most importantly walked away with a greater appreciation for what makes Porto unique and special. I would highly recommend a tour with Orlando as the first activity for anyone visiting Porto!

Orlando rocks!

We had such a fun time with Orlando! He made our family feel so welcome, he took us to hidden gems and secret ancient streets we otherwise wouldn’t have gone to. Steered us away from tourist traps and showed us the beauty of Porto. I especially loved the history and the story he tells that not a lot of people actually know. In the brief moment we spent with him, we fell in love with the city. He was especially good with the kids, engaging them and making sure they are involved and kept them interested. I could only wish we had a line her tour, we parted and he gave us excellent recommendations on how to go about touring the city on our own. Thank you Orlando!

We were impressed, how much we learned about Porto in 2h. Orlando is the storyteller in person. He has to every topic either additional info from the past or present. His humor suited us very much and we laughed a lot. When he feels enthusiasm and interest, it motivates him even more, which has led to a super energy. We had a great time with Orlando and would do a tour with him again anytime - with new stories about Porto, its people and its history.

Hidden Gems of Porto with Orlando

We would highly recommend Orlando for anyone who wants to embrace Porto by exploring with a friendly historian and storyteller. We really enjoyed walking and seeing Porto through his eyes. Not your typical commercial tour which was perfect. It was a conversation amongst new friends. We loved his knowledge and connections to the Portugal of the past to modern day. It poured rain on the last bit of our walk and so we enjoyed our first Port while he enjoyed a coffee to finish our tour. A funny series of events trying to find a bar in which to do so! Imagine. In Porto trying to find a place to serve us! We enjoyed the irony. He not so much and couldn’t imagine what was happening. Always seeking to serve his clients. Also, his tips and restaurant recommendations were extremely helpful as well. Thank-you Orlando for your friendship and orientation of your beautiful city. We Highly recommend Orlando!

Wir waren 3h in der Altstadt von Porto mit Orlando unterwegs. Er hat die Tour so gestaltet, dass es auch mit Kinderwagen kein Problem war. Wir waren zwar im Urlaub gut mit einem Führer in Buchform ausgestattet, aber die Informationen und das Hintergrundwissen von Orlando haben das deutlich übertroffen. Im Nachhinein haben wir uns nur geärgert, dass wir nicht gleich 5h gebucht haben. Es war ein mega toller Nachmittag. Vielen Dank!Tolle Privattour mit Familie
