This summer we organise cave tours to Jama pod Babjim zobom. The reservations would be needed a day or two in advance.
Overall It is half a day hiking & caving adventure.
Entrance is located on 1008 m altitude on a slope of forest mountain plateau Jelovica.
Hiking shoes, food, drinking water, warm clothes ( cave inside temp. is 8°C), additional dry T shirt to replace the sweaty one are a necessity.
Where we turn right from the asphalt road into the forest, we still drive 2km until we finally park our vehicles and prepare for an one hour steep up-slope walk.
This is demanding hiking ascent, hardly suitable for children under 5 years to walk on their own. But some parents in good physical condition do carry their infants or small children in their baby rucksacks.
The tour is also not suitable for people with heart problems or highly pregnant women.
After reaching the cave entrance, we earn a pause for snacks & refreshment.
When we are all fed and set, than follows muddy, but exciting cave tour, where we witness very beautiful, breath-taking subterranean impressions.
For more advanced visitors we also promote "Rappelling caving tour", which includes exploring the cave plus descent with the rope 40m down in the abyss to the lowest point of the cave. We provide all the caving equipment (helmet, head lights, harness, ropes, descending gear and overall suit). You don't need so much prior rope descending experience, just your good hiking shoes due to muddy grounds. Prior to actual descent we conduct a short slope exercise, to gain trust and comfort with ropes and harness.
Rappel is not suitable for kids under 15yrs.
In case of raining, the tour is to be postponed or canceled, because the up slope path becomes too slippery.
Meeting point is usualy at the asphalt road junction with forest road, 09:00AM (if you have your own vehicle).
